For those of you who know me personally, or have been reading my blog for a while, you will know that we used to live in Saudi Arabia. We have lived there twice – the first time for a year, and the second time for 2 1/2 years. We’ve been back in Australia for 3 1/2 years now, and had our fun on our little farm, quite a different place than the endless sand dunes of Arabia!
Those of us from other countries who go and live in Saudi Arabia call it the Magic Kingdom… because there is something that draws you back, time and time again…..
This week we heard that we are going back for the third time 🙂 Cameron applied for a job in January, and it has taken all this time to get it sorted out…. We are all pretty excited about going back. It will be good to see old friends, although we will miss the ones we have made here.
It is going to mean another international move… which of course we are not looking forward to. But we know what we are in for at least, having done it twice. Cameron will be heading off in a month or so, and we will follow by the end of the year I hope.
Saudi was where I learned how to quilt, and many of my quilting buddies are there still, so it will be wonderful to see them again and spend some sewing days together. All my fabric will come with me of course 🙂 And I am glad I have collected lots of Australian magazines to take to share with people there.
So….. the next chapter of our lives has begun…. Today we sold our piano….. and I am looking around the house at things that will stay and things that will go…. I can’t do any lifting or packing yet, but I am at least making plans. A new adventure awaits…. and I will take you all with me through this blog 🙂
Oh how exciting! Glad it's you and not me though! I can't imagine having to pack all my stuff up to move! LOL
Wow – I've never known anyone who lived in S.A.!! Yes – it's nice that you can 'take' us with you! Hoping you heal quickly!
wow, a big move again. Glad to see you are feeling well. how long do you see yourselves being away for this time.
see you soon
OK, I did NOT know this! If someone told me I had to move internationally, I would curl up in a ball and cry. I love "knowing" people who will go on adventures for me!
Hey great news!!! You'll be closer and you know a flight to Paris is so easy!!! We are only 2 hours from Paris you know. Those lemon meringue tartelets are really in your reach! So happy for you!
I am like Jill. I would not be able to handle moving that far away. Wow, will you still be able to keep blogging?
Oh my gosh, so many things going on in your life!! I'm sending all my best wishes on your move. Oh boy, just thinking of moving makes me exhausted!
SIGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Those were some good times!
L,A-
Best of luck with the move and your new adventure. HUGE move!
I knew this had been simmering away and after all this time I thought the flame had been put out by now!
How terribly exciting for you ~ and how sad that we'll miss having your company over Labour Day weekend 🙁
Being the international lover that I am, I can't wait for you to take me with you on your travels.
Happy for you since this is obviously an exciting, welcome and positive move for your family but SOOOO sad for us! We will miss you terribly. Caitlin is sad at not seeing Elixabeth for sewing time, and I will be less a good friend and quilting partner in this vicinity! MUST keep in touch and inspire each other via Blog for quilting!!
Wow Joy, what excitement !!!! Cant say though that I envy you the packing/preparation. Hope all works out well.
How wonderful to be going back to old friends and how good it is that we have such wonderful ways to keep in touch. Having done an international move myself I do know how much is involved – they are sad moments and happy moments, frustrating ones and exciting ones…. I hope you have lots of the best moments whilst you prepare to move ….
