The house we are living in is very big. The ground floor has a large lounge room when you walk in, then a dining area, then another large dining area, then another lounge room, and the kitchen. The reason there are two living areas like this is because the front lounge is for men, and the other one further back is for women. Since we don’t have the need to keep the men and women apart, we have changed it around a little to suit us. We have made the back lounge room for women, our main lounge. We managed to find some second hand furniture… throw a few quilts over it and it looks like this:
(Note to my DMIL (dear mother in law) – see your rug?!!! Fits perfectly!)
This room actually has curtains that you can draw across for privacy, not that we have used them yet, but you never know, they may come in handy 🙂
The small dining area we have turned into a tv room:
This room is actually a walk through to the other living area, and since we don’t need two dining tables… well, I think this is a good solution. And this furniture sort of matches well 🙂 Also second hand. I think now we have found all the furniture we need… phew… shopping here takes a lot of time! I’ll explain that a bit better another day!
I’ll also show you photos what I have done with the front lounge room another day… and keep going with this little tour of the house….
The other thing that has been taking up a bit of my time and a LOT of Elizabeth’s is:
Yep – a little ball of black fur, rescued from a friend’s backyard. Its eyes were completely infected, and when we took it to the vet he thought she would lose one of her eyes. But he gave us some ointment, and with a lot of TLC and prayers, both eyes have completly cleared up!! She is quite a cutie. Her name is Ameera – Arabic for princess, and she already behaves like one 🙂
I have done a bit of sewing but I will save that for another post 🙂 It is Thursday morning, weekend for us. Cameron has gone off with his mates dune bashing and I am going to head to the sewing room…. happy weekend everyone!
Fun to see some of your place…. I don't envy the dust!! YOur curtains look very luxurious…. sometimes a womens only lounge area might be a good idea?? for stitching and chatting…

I agree with Bubzrugz, I'd have claimed the "women's" room as my craft and sewing room! It's fascinating to see your life in Saudi, keep 'em coming!
I can't imagine dealing with constant dust storms! Love your house and Ameera is so sweet! :0)
She's gorgeous, Ameera that is. Your rooms look quite opulent with all the curtains, I'm with Wendy and BubzRugz a women's only lounge room would be a great idea, no men allowed, no sports on the tv etc.
Is that why my apartment is always so dusting–the dust storms–humm–glad I got an answer for that problem–dust bunnies move over–you have just been replaced with 'dust storms'!!!! Love that black kitty and I am so glad that kitty found you and your love and prayers!!!
love the house pictures–but that is too much house for me to keep clean!!!
I did get my project all done this month–the ABC quilt–did you see it on my site????
Hugs,di and miss gracie
