For the last year since I got back to Saudi I have been going to a dear friend’s house most Tuesday evenings for a Sewing Bee. It is always such a fun time to get together with friends and work on projects. Mostly we work on our own stuff, but sometimes there will be a project we all do, like work on charity quilts, or learn something new.
This year I decided to work on one of the projects I bought before I left Australia, Gail’s Somerhill House quilt. Remember I bought two kits a loooong time ago – one to make for my Mum and one for me? Well obviously I didn’t get around to starting it last year and I really really want to start… so I decided to have them as my special Tuesday Sewing Bee projects, that way I should get them done…. right? Right!!
This is what I have done so far:
I cut all the background squares and sewed all the shoofly blocks. I have decided I don’t like shoofly blocks, because the whole time they made me feel like singing “Shoo fly, don’t bother me…” and once you get that stuck in your head it is most annoying, especially when you don’t have preschool aged children anymore.
I really love the colors of this quilt and am enjoying working on it. It is also fun doing two quilts at the same time! Much more efficient 🙂 I think working on it on Tuesday evenings will get it done really quickly….!
PS Just remembered that I was supposed to tell you about the boms I’ve joined.. oh well, next post!!!
Hi Joy… your blocks are great…. I like having a special project for taking to sewing group…. then it’s all ready and I don’t have to think aobut what to take….

‘cept now I have a toon in my head too.
