I got a little bit of time over the weekend to sew one Dresden Plate together for the sewalong…. it looks really cute, but it is not quite the way it should be. Of course that could be because I used the wrong ruler….
You see I “thought” I had a Dresden Plate ruler, but when I found it, I saw that it was a Stack and Whack fan ruler. Well, I decided it still looked similar and I’d just try it. Turned out I needed 26 blades instead of 20.
Now I have two choices: to order a “real” Dresden Plate ruler, or just keep on going with this because I think it will still look nice… By the time I order and get the ruler, I will be even more behind, so I think I shall just keep going merrily along – what do you think?
it looks gorgeous whatever you decide.
course i have not started yet so you are ahead of me.
🙂
Your Dresden looks lovely even if you did use the wrong ruler! I agree with you…just keep on going! :0)
I don’t think you can have a wrong ruler for these blocks. As long as it’s a wedge ruler you are good to go. It really comes down to how many spokes YOU want. An 18 degree ruler will give you 20 spokes, but I say keep going with your 26 spokes, they look great!
looks lovely – I don’t think it would matter the number of blades? Just a bit of extra stitching

I wouldn’t have know if you didn’t say so 🙂
Your dresden looks sweet and delicate … I’d keep going.
Still looks lovely. Keep going along I say! Now I have the ruler but just a matter of where!!!!! A simple runner using my 30’s stash would be pretty for Spring! Ok will have to invite Alice over for a hunt for the ruler day!
Found you, Joy – and bookmarked you, too!
