Some more strings…..

After I taught a Strings class about a month ago, I got addicted to them. (That is when I did the two table runners that were my finishes for Jan).
I wanted to do a co-ordinated strings quilt, so went to my little shop and got two honey buns (I love having my own shop!). I took half of the strips from one honey bun and cut 1/2″ off them so that I would have some different widths in the blocks. Here is how it turned out:
I just love the colors, don’t you?
Isn’t it pretty?! I still want to put a cream border around it, and then use scraps to do the binding. I want to try to do some fancy quilting design in the border, so I will make it fairly wide I think…. it will probably freak me out trying to do the quilting, but I really should try!
After I finished that top, I had a moment of insanity where I decided to make a picnic rug for out in the desert……. I mean, I had three tubs full of strings and after making a table runner and letting three people use my scraps during the class I still had three tubs full of strings, so I started stringing, and stringing, and stringing… Eveytime I thought I was done, I looked at the jolly thing and decided it still wasn’t big enough! And now… well, here is a photo of it and I still think it needs to bigger:
So I shall be making yet more string blocks in the near future… I need to get it done!!
Oh, did I mention I am teaching another strings class on Thursday? I hope that will put a dent in my strings collection… really, it should!
I think I got Alice addicted too. She asked me how I made them, and I am planning on doing a tutorial soon with some tips and tricks I learned while making the above quilts. What I really need to do is remember to take photos in daylight…
It’s dinner time… I’ll catch up with you all again soon…
Yes, I am hooked. Mindless entertainment is good right?
Yours are “strung” together soooo pretty.
