Dresses, Grannies and Skype

I’ve been trying to copy one of Elizabeth’s favorite dresses… I thought it would be easy, but after having a second go at it I am thinking I should leave it up to the professionals! The first time I tried to wing it without making a pattern… didn’t work. The second time I made up a pattern:
No Tiana, you are not being helpful.
The pattern kind-of helped, but I am still not happy with how it is going. I am going to sleep on it and decide in the morning whether I should keep trying, or give up.
Something I am much better at is making Granny Squares:
My friend Mari saw THIS POST the other day and sent me the link in an email saying: “Do you think we can do both grannies …. I mean… a granny quilt and a granny crochet afghan…????”
What do you think I said? Yes, of course 🙂 We decided to start with the crochet and will do the quilt next month when she is back from vacation. I plan to join the granny squares with the blue yarn using the flat braid method if I can work it out. I had a bit of a practice and think I can… (I think I can.. I think I can…).
And in other news, Alice and I “Skype Sewed” the other day….
…..and while we were sewing, the phone rang at her end and guess who it was? Lola! So I got to say “hi” to Lola through skype on the phone… hmm… technology…!! Hopefully one day I’ll get to meet her in real life 🙂
Well, it is bedtime…. sleep tight everyone and till next time,
You’re so brave. I am too chicken to even try a pattern anymore since i have no idea what fat size I wear.
So, are we Skype sewing again this Wed??
I need to finish those silly checkerboards.
L,A-
How fun to skype sew….. the granny square quilt blocks are on my ‘to do’ list…. I am no good at trying to make clothing patterns… I did little boy trousers and one leg was bigger than the other… he had to limp around in them!!

and love the pictures of your dinner out–neat place!!!
Hugs, Di and miss gracie
Yes indeed not sure what you would call our hello..tele conferencing or Skype Celling, as I was on the cell! Hahaa! I like to keep it simple no matter what I sew. Simple sewing for simple minded folks…;-)
Hugs!
