Pottering in the Kitchen

Alice and I have decided the “O” word is a swear word. And we are wondering what on earth possessed us to choose the “O” word as our “word” for the year. I am sure we will never make that mistake again. We are now into August and I think it has taken me that long to get “O”rganized to get “O”rganized!
So, yesterday and today I pottered around in the kitchen, organizing the Tupperware. You know how big a job that is? Still, I am pleased that I finally took the time to do something that I have been putting off for 18 months now – filling the Tupperware spice containers:
Notice the cuppa in the middle of the mess to keep me motivated? I was clever and didn’t spill any spices in it 🙂
I had some labels already on the containers, others I had to add a label:
My handwriting is not neat and the stickers aren’t on straight, BUT I know what is in them now 🙂 When they were all full, off they went into the cupboard, which is actually a bit too small but it will have to do:
I also tackled this disaster area which had all my big Tupperware containers:
When you are doing nothing else in the kitchen, the Tupperware looks nice there and is very handy for when you are baking, etc. However, I don’t have a lot of bench space so often all sorts of junk will get dumped by everyone in front of my containers which makes it messy and hard to get at. So I cleared out a cupboard in my pantry room and put it all in there instead:
Much better I think. And the bench top now:
Also much better.
Finally the rest of the Tupperware in the cupboard:
You know what Tupperware cupboards usually look like… well I am sure mine will be back in its old state of confusion, but for now it is tidy 🙂 I just need to keep everyone out of the kitchen… and how realistic is that?!
I have had a few minutes in the sewing room in the last few days… although the kids have also partly taken over with their Graphic Arts for school – the nerve!
Oh well… move that drawing board over for my almost finished Scrappy Stars (hosted by Terry):
Hopefully I’ll get a chance to sew the pieces together tomorrow.
On the stitching front I’ve finished two of the Village blocks:
On the whole I think it’s been a pretty productive week so far 🙂 Off to see what everyone else has been up to,
Your star blocks look wonderful Joy! And so do your Patchwork Village stitcheries! You’re making good progress on both of those projects! :0)
Impressive tupperware cupboard! And I really like the scrappy stars. Now I want to make some. So many ideas; so little time.
Wow–I am not showing you my Tupperware cabinet. Especially since it is Garion’s job to keep it together.
I suppose I need to try to keep up!!!
We still have 5 months left?????????????????
Love your stars and stitcheries.
At first I thought the ‘O’ was Olympics and then I remembered, I suppose you have had your own Organizational Olympics 🙂
Tupperware (and it’s cousins) is so handy, but storing it is a real problem sometimes. The scrappy stars look great, might have to try making a couple of those further down the track.
I love to organize cupboards, closets–
but that miss gracie always messes them up!!!!
Ok–so her mom messes them up–
if only they stayed nice and neat!!!
one of these days–it will come together for you and Alice–
in the mean time–just sew!!!!!
Hugs, Di and miss gracie
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO such neatness I have never….well done..and yes sadly once you start cooking they get all moved around again…your star blocks look great, cheers Vickie
Such lovely Tupperware storage! Counter space? What is that? You must promise when you come to visit that you DO NOT open any cupboard doors or closets! Hahaha! I heard you talked Alice into those stars! Yours are so pretty!!!
Hugs!
