It seems like I am having a great start to the year! Now let’s hope I can keep it up!
Yesterday I finished my first project for the year, prompted by finding this diary and cover I made in 2011:
It was so pretty I wondered if it will fit on something else… The thing is, I don’t use a paper diary anymore, I use my Samsung Tablet…. so then I thought, let’s see if it by any chance would fit on that….!!! So I grabbed it, and sure enough, with a little tweaking I came up with this:
I am so pleased! Still fits nicely in my bag, looks pretty, and since it has been hiding for two years I am not sick of it yet 🙂
After I finished that, I made two, almost three, little thread catchers for the SAL that I have joined again this year. I liked the ideas of making little projects, so I ordered the books and have made a start. I took one of my little thread catchers along to our first guild sewing day:
I have one more that is nearly finished, and will post when they are all done. They are very cute and addictive!
Our sewing day today was to make charity quilts. We had lots of space to work:
Lots of scraps to choose from:
Lots of cutting to do:
Lots of chain sewing:
And lots of ice tea:
By the end of our session we had almost completed two tops:
The second one looks better in real life! The colors don’t show up on this photo.
It was a good day 🙂 Now to finish off my other thread catcher and make a list of all my UFO’s so that I can post them here soon!
Woo Hoo! Well done! Good motivation for me to get busy.
One of these days (when the list is finished) I should make myself a pretty little Kindle cover.
My purple one should have worn out completely by then.
You have got off to a good start today……..and making a few thread catchers………..welcome to the SAL………..
It will be so fun to sew with you in SAL and I so want to come and really sew with you in that lovely room… with iced tea….

Oh I would love a glass of iced tea!!!

and the Red Home book is in the mail–hope it is here by the first of the week!!!
love your thread catcher–keep going–you are on a roll!!

That was a good repurposed use for the diary cover. Lovely thread catcher too. I am making my first one now. And the charity quilt patterns look good – they go all the better with some ice tea I am sure.
Joy, please contact me directly to my email (stitchedbuy@aol.com), I have a surprise for you!
