Elizabeth and I went shopping today to one of the big malls nearby. We had some shopping to do to get ready for something special that is happening a month from now….
WE ARE GOING TO AUSTRALIA FOR 3 MONTHS!
There, did you all hear me shouting?! We are pretty excited. We haven’t been home for 2 years, and it will be lovely to see our family and friends again.
Also our eldest son has been accepted into a bridging course run by our local University. As many of you know, we homeschool – have done so for the past 12 years. One of the questions everyone has asked us (and our family has worried about!) is – how will they get into University? Well, the doors have opened and there is a way for DS to get in. We are very thankful that he has been accepted, and if he passes this six month course he automatically gets into the University.
DH is coming with us for three weeks, and then Elizabeth, Matt and I will stay for another two months to help Dan settle in.
We are looking forward to being able to do lots of things back home that we aren’t able to do – like drive ourselves to the shops! This morning we called a taxi and just us two girls did some “necessary” shopping…
We both bought a new bag and purse because ours were getting pretty tatty. Trying to find something without too much bling was a bit of a challenge, but we managed. This is mine:
And Elizabeth’s:
Elizabeth wanted hers big enough to hold lots of things on the plane… and I think it will be just perfect 🙂
Now there are some other things we were thinking we need to make, like little purses and organizers for makeup, travel documents, etc. There are some tutorials out there that I have been wanting to try, so maybe now is the time. Good thing I have lots of scraps! Or maybe I need to co-ordinate them all with a nice fabric line… hmmm… what fun!
In the sewing room I have been working on a rag quilt to have as a sample in the Shoppe. Ameera thinks it is pretty comfy so far:
Yep, let me snuggle up a bit more….
And a leeeetle bit more so that you can only see my ear….
Good thing it needs a wash anyway before it gets hung up for dispaly…
It is weekend here. Tomorrow I shall sew ALL day… after I do the dishes… and the washing… and cook…. yes, I will SEW ALL DAY!!!!
Woo Hoo!! Nice bags. Yes, I think she should be able to get quite a bit in there. Ameera looks quite happy there. They are going to miss you while you are gone. Who’s going to spoil them terribly???
You sound just a tad bit excited… you have both found lovely bags….
there must be lots to get sorted out for such a long trip…

Yes ….I did hear you shouting…. so happy you get to go for a visit… nice bags….
So happy for you getting to go home again for a bit! Recharge the family love batteries! Wishing Dan all the best! Be hard to leave him in AU too! Poor kitties will be lonely for you all I am sure. Love the bags!
Wow, Joy. That must be so exciting, both coming home, and your son going to University. Well done to him. Obviously you both have worked hard to get him to this stage. The bags are great, and yes, Elizabeth should fit enough in. Which part of Australia?
Ameera will miss the quilts and sewing times while you are away. Nothing new to explore and sleep on.
Enjoy your day of sewing.
Luv, Marilyn xx
