Fabric Scraps and a Finish!

I’ve been hiding in my room the past few days sorting out my scrap boxes… Since having my own fabric shop (and what a nice little shop it was too!), I have lots and lots of scraps that are stuffed in tubs. I have been putting off sorting them, but I need the tubs for other stuff, so I decided I really should tackle them.
I took the big pieces and cut 10″ squares, and then 5″ squares:
Isn’t it a lovely pile?! I used a rotary cutter for the 10″ (didn’t have Go die for them), but my Go! cutter for the 5″.
The smaller bits went into 2 1/2″ and 2″ squares, some hexies too:
Managed to keep the cats off these 🙂 Imagine what fun they would have had!!
My tub of 2″ squares was looking pretty empty after I sorted all the 100 patch blocks, so it was good to have lots more to put back in.
One evening I also sat down and finished tucking away the ends of my small crochet ufo from last summer…. imagine, it only took 10 minutes, and it took me a year to sit down and do that?? Seriously…. Here is it all done:
Yay, another one to cross off my list! Getting there slowly… oh, did I mention I found more granny squares….??? Hmm…. I might be getting there slowly, but I still have a loooong way to go!
YAY!!!!!! It’s the last 10 minutes that are the hardest!!! It is very pretty. So are your piles of pretty colors.
It’s such a help to have your scraps organized! Love the finish too! :0)
Well done Joy. Think I’ll be doing similar with sorting for our move too.
lovely pile of blocks … now I wonder what you will make with them?
I had to laugh at your quick finish… how often do we do that…

That is a nice looking pile of scrappy fabric squares, you must feel good about having them all sorted. The cats would have had a field day with them if they had known, first they would have lain on top of them and then they would have flipped some on to the floor, then maybe they would have rolled around in them to really mix them up 🙂
Oh what a job you did there–but now you have your very own–layer cake collection!!!
along with all the other ‘designer’ collections you made up for yourself!!!!
AND I loved the ‘splash’ story–I do think it would be fun to splash in a mud puddle–
ahhh–let’s leave the mud out and just jump up and down in some fresh rain water?????
love, di and miss gracie
Congratulations on getting so much done! I’m just tickled that I got the living room thoroughly cleaned today. 🙂
beautiful granny blanket. Putting things off for years to have them take 10 minutes to finish is the story of my life!
