On Sunday I went to all the important shops in Dubai…. one cheap fabric shop down in the souk, and the two quilt shops 🙂 Silly me, I forgot to take photos of the shop in the souk…. and I can’t take a photo of the fabric I bought because my dear friend who was with me took it back in her suitcase since she had more weight allowance than I did 🙂 I will have to show you all when I get home.
My friend is a seasoned traveler who carries a little set of scales with her so that she can weigh her purchases to avoid paying over weight on the plane! My bag came to 5 kg….. 🙂 I was very pleased to be able to send those kilos back with her!!
In the afternoon I met up with another friend who took me to Craftland, one of the quilt shops. There wasn’t a lot of fabric there (but never mind, I already bought five kilos, right?!), however they had a lot of notions and other cool stuff.
I was quite restrained and only bought these goodies:
Then we went to the other quilt shop, Classic Quilts:
Lots of yummy fabric here:
And in a corner of the shop:
Hmmm… looks a lot like what I have in one of my rooms!!
I was also very restrained here, and just bought these two items:
Of course today I met up with another friend who had only been to Classic Quilts and not to Craftland or the souk, so I HAD to go to all three shops again to show her around…. poor me… but that will have to wait for another post 🙂
sounds like a lot of fun… are prices for fabric good there?

My goodness, that was some getting about in Dubai. Didn’t realise that they would have quilt shops there. The photo of the quilt machine is familiar isn’t it. When do you get back to Saudi and what is your time frame for coming back to Oz?
