I got the hang of the Metro in Dubai…. it was very handy, and just opposite our hotel.
They have special carriages for women and children only:
Of course the first time hubby and I were running to catch the train and went into this carriage without realizing… I was politely told by a lady that I shouldn’t be chewing gum in the train because I would get a fine, and then she said to DH – “oh, and you are not supposed to be in this carriage!” You live and learn 🙂
Walking from the Metro station to Dubai Mall was quite a hike – my legs were sore even before I got to the massive mall! Along the way I saw the bottom of the tallest building in the world:
And also the top of the tallest building in the world :
🙂
In the mall there were some cool shops….
A giant bookstore:
It just kept going on and on… never seen one this big…
A new favorite shop which I have been meaning to visit here in Arabia:
So much cooooool stuff!!!
Bad shop for a clutter-holic like me 😉
Watched the fishies in the giant aquarium for a while…. the colorful circles are reflections of shop lights… not colorful jellyfish… There were two guys in scuba suits cleaning the “coral” with brushes….
And waited, and waited, and waited for the fountains to start up but they never did:
I found some yummy Steak and Kidney pies:
And then it was back on the metro to the hotel again….
So you see, I can do “normal” shopping too….. 🙂
You know you are well travelled when you talk about normal shopping in Dubai!!!! Those meatpies look yummy!
That must have been the most amazing place. Yes, you live and learn with so many things and actually never stop learning. See you soon!!!!!!!
haha… I like your version of normal!!! what a trek… I watched a programme aobut that tall building a couple of weeks ago… amazing engineering….
Hugz
Dubai sounds like an amazing place, like that tallest building. Lots to learn always, and the shops look great.
I never would of been able to walk that mall–I would have had to be really an old lady and let someone push me around in a wheel chair–but oh the fun things that you showed–and all the things that I could of bought–!!!!
