…. the sorting… the tossing… the packing…. It has begun, for this our 21st move in 21 years of marriage….. you would think I know what I am doing by now, wouldn’t you? I think I do…
The guy from the packing company came and had a look at our stuff…. then he told us it wouldn’t fit in a 20ft container, we would need a 40ft container 🙂 We informed him that it would fit in a a 20ft by hook or by crook… there is no way we are paying for a 40ft container. Also, this guy has no idea of what a good pre-packer I am. All my kitchen Tupperware is going to be stuffed with little things… any tub or container will not go in the boxes empty… trust me, I have moved more than 20 times in my life, more than 8 of which were international moves. I know how to fill up every tiny space…. (I think I get it from my Dad – he has been known to take the back off tvs and stuff things in them!)
Of course some of the big bulky items may have to stay here.
So now the sorting starts – what is more important?
Cupboards or fabric?
What a silly question 🙂
Oh the joys of packing (no pun intended). I’ve started, but probably have so much more, because we have been here for nearly 10 years. Your Mum and Dad are absolutely lovely and made us feel so welcome. Isn’t it amazing what blogging can do. Will pop you an email some time today after doing some washing and grocery shopping. Take care and don’t overdo it.
yes it is amazing what can fit into small spaces… you can take both.. just fill the cupboard with fabric…

You know my answer to that question!!! You probably have moved more than a lot of those guys have packed. You need to write a book.
There is no doubt you will be able to pack much tighter than the packing companies. We seem to learn the ability of using every bit of empty space, which they dont have to do. Hope it all works out without too much drama for you as you sort, discard and pack.
Oh my. I do hope all the important things…fabric and thread..makes it in the container!;-)
Has to be stressful no matter how many times you have had to do it!
Hugs,
Lola
I’ve moved countries 4 times. When I moved to and from France I had my dad’s car to fill with my stuff. When I moved to Poland I had just a 20kg luggage allowance on the plane! I was double that but had a bit of a cry at the check in lady who let me off. I also had 11 pieces of hand luggage!
I can’t say that I envy you, but it does force you to declutter, which is a good thing.
