While I was in Arabia visiting DH, my dad was busy at my place…. you see, now that we are back at our own house and not renting, we can do some fun things to our property…. Our house is an old country house, which has been extended. So it is quite large – four bedrooms plus study, and a sunroom out the back. It is also on 3/4 acre so one day when we have the time and money we will be putting in a chook shed, veggie garden, more fruit trees… dream, dream, dream…. 🙂
Back to my studio… the only rooms in the house that Emmie G could fit in are the master bedroom and the lounge room 🙂 Strangely enough, DH wasn’t willing to give up either of those rooms, but he did agree to sacrifice a third of his huge shed. This in itself is an amazing thing for him to do, because he is a real Aussie boy and all Aussie boys need a shed… a big one… or two even… If I didn’t already know that he loves me, this is real proof 🙂
So Dad (who is awesome by the way), started working on the shed while I was gone. He had some help from Annie’s wonderful friend, including giving us the windows you will see in the pictures below… Since I’ve been back I’ve been helping out as much as I can because things always are easier with two people.
So here are some photos of the WIP – work in progress, starting with the gorgeous windows:
From the inside:
As you can see Dad is insulating it all properly… Building the wall between DH’s side of the shed and mine:
The walls painted and going in next to the windows:
And here is the ceiling going in:
It’s looking good isn’t it?! I’m so excited, it’s is going to be wonderful to have everything in one place 🙂
That’s all for now folks, I’ve got someone coming to visit for the day, so I’d better go finish my dishes!!
Joy that is going to be great to have a sewing space purpose built……….keep loving your dadda……..he’s doing great……….the windows look wonderful…………
your own space will be fantastic, and I look forward to seeing your creations in that space!, and hope you had a lovely day with Susan.
Yes it is looking good and by the time I see it again, it should be nearly finished I expect. Lovely day, with yummy soup from your Mum and lots of chatting. Good to catch up. Have a good week and take care.
I am so glad that you have landed back into your own home–and I love the plans you have for it–I will come and help with getting the chooks and garden in–well–maybe it will to help you gather the chooks eggs and harvest the garden–I will bring Alice too–
love and laughter, di

An Aussie shed is clearly very different to a British shed which you’d be hard pressed to get a domestic sewing machine into! I’d call what you’ve got a barn!
