I do love going to opshops and wandering around them. I tend to look more in the houshold items and book section than at any clothes, but the other day I just happened to wander around the entire opshop and got a real bargain! DD and I went for a drive to find an opshop that had all clothes for 50c each. We ended up in the middle of nowhere, and once we arrived we were welcomed with open arms – they even offered us a cuppa! I’m guessing they don’t get many new people all the way out there!
Now I never ever buy shoes from the opshop. Do you? The thought of wearing someone else’s old shoes kind of freaks me out…. but as I was wandering I saw a pair of boots…..
Considering my old boots looked like this (and I wondered why my feet were getting wet)….
…..I thought, perhaps I should just try these on…. not thinking they would fit me (I have very wide feet). And guess what? They were a perfect fit!
They looked almost brand new, and since they are boots and I could wear socks in them I didn’t feel so pyschologically opposed to buying and wearing them…. They are brand name, all leather uppers, and…… guess how much I paid? 50c 🙂 I was quite pleased! We looked them up online later and they sell for $180, so I think I did pretty well! In the pic above they are already getting muddy, but then what do you expect with our very wet winter… at least the water is staying out!
The next bargain I found was in town at another op shop. They were selling these office chairs for $5:
They also look almost brand new, are super comfy and I bought 8 of them…. yes, 8! They will be for out in my studio, so if you by any chance head over to my place for a class or just a sewing day, then you will be sewing in comfort!
Have you found any bargains lately?
Great bargains Joy and the chairs will certainly be handy for classes and sewing days. Take care.
Hi Joy, its always great to get a bargain.
