First Sewing in my New Studio!

A few days ago I managed to do some sewing in the studio! I got the kids help me carry tables in there, and then I got all set up.
The first sewing that was done was actually mending….. something I don’t enjoy, but since it was for Dad, I made it a priority. After all it was because of my studio that he got a hole in his jeans that needed mending. I did warn him when he was on the roof to watch out for those nails sticking out.. but… 🙂
So got that done first:
Then I worked on a rag rug/mat I made years ago that I like to have in front of my kitchen sink. I had two people slip on it, so when I found this at Aldi:
I decided to try to sew it to the back of the mat. I cut two bits to fit:
and used the vinyl foot on Bernie:
It wasn’t easy to sew, even with the special foot. But it is on my floor in the kitchen now and not slipping around anymore, so I am happy:
Now I need to get dinner cooked, do dishes and then head out to my studio because I am joining the other ladies for FNSI!! Yay! Will I see you there?
Hmmmm…does that count as sewing? I guess it’s warm-up for the real thing. And it means Bernie is fired up and ready to go. Enjoy FNSI!! I’ll be joining in later.
Well–you are not officially on your way to jump back into quilt land–
so what will your first quilt project be????
love and laughter, di
At least you are in and soon we’ll be seeing the quilt machine going too hopefully, if it’s not too freezing. Brrrrr! It’s sure cold today. Take care.
I can’t say that I think mending is real sewing either, but great that you are in your new space. Look forward to hearing of you doing some “real” sewing soon.
Since I’ve been mostly off-line for the past few months (just too much other stuff happening), I haven’t known that you were back. It’s good to see you again. I hope to get back online and to sewing since things have calmed down a little. That’s a very cute rug.
