… you make butter, of course! Friends of ours are milking one of their cows at the moment. I dropped in on them for a cuppa the other evening and walked in to see them putting the fresh milk through the separator. I immediately asked, “Can I have some?!”
I love living in a small community where you can just drop in on other people and come home with fresh milk and cream.. oh and they gave me some eggs too!
The next day I put the cream in the food processor to make butter. I almost bent my spoon getting it out of the container because it is not like the stuff you buy at the shop! In fact, it almost looks like butter already, don’t you think:
Being so thick, it took less than a minute to turn into butter. Food processors are wonderful things, even makes the rinsing easy.
I used my DMIL’s butter paddles (she used to make and sell butter many, many years ago on their farm), and got some nice homemade butter:
I popped three pieces in the freezer and the other one is in the fridge being used.
I wish I had a cow…. well, really, it is easier when someone else milks, but still… maybe one day!
In other news:
Dh arrived safe and sound, yay!
That’s it for today folks, the sun is shining and DH and I are off on a road trip to see his parents!
I’ve never had homemade butter! I bet it’s awesome. Enjoy your time with DH…..
Wow, homemade butter! Sounds wonderful & when I was a kid, I got a turn to try milking a cow. Not much went in the bucket I might add. Glad DH arrived safely and say hello to him from both of us. Have a good trip & take care.
oh it would be great to make home made cream……….I have some dairy calves but we are along way off milking………few years away yet…………
Way cool! I am doing well with the garden veggies, but can’t have a cow! Bummer!
Oh my, I do love love love home made butter and I haven’t had it for years…. It’s just the best. Glad your Hubby is home for a while… happy days
