I had an awesome day on Sunday! I took the train in to Melbourne and went to see the Making the Australian Quilt exhibition!
I met up with Susan at Southern Cross station and we made our way over Federation Square….. where we met up with Chookyblue and some of her friends!!! It was so much fun!!
Would you believe Chookyblue managed to find a flimsy, ie a UFO:
We both felt a bit better knowing that even people in the 19th Century had UFOs 🙂
There were also orphan blocks on display:
(Sorry that the photos are a bit big, I’m not home on my normal computer… will resize them when I get home again)
There were lots of amazing quilts, with a write-up beside them of their history. I think one thing that struck most of us was the beautiful embroidery on some of the quilts that looked almost like it was done by machine:
I think the exhibition ends soon, so I am glad I got to see it. But, the highlight of the day was meeting Chookyblue and the other ladies!
If you want to see more pics of our day out visit Chookyblue’s post and Susan’s post! (Including pics of all us gals! I’m the one with the pink shawl.)
Today I headed down to the big smoke again via the airport to pick up my sister and brother-in-law who flew down from Cairns – it’s our oldest nephew’s wedding tomorrow, so we are here for a few days. My sister had the most brilliant idea…. to go to Ikea in the morning 🙂 I haven’t been to Ikea since Arabia, so I’m looking forward to that as well.
Off to bed… big day tomorrow… yes I brought a UFO to work on 🙂 (No, don’t worry I won’t work on it at the wedding!!! DD said that would be just too embarrassing, lol!)
Looking all lovely ♥
sounds like alot of fun–
did you know that you won a prize over on Gonestitching–???
she said she needs your mailing address–
I just won something in the Halloween blog hop–

Have a fun day–

PS–I remembered that I have a counted cross stitch ufo from a couple years ago–now it was finished–totally–but just did not like how I did it–so took it all apart and now I have the blocks to redo it again –humm????
Yes, it was a great day & I so enjoyed it. Your pics are so much better than mine as evidently my little camera isn’t working well. Have a lovely time with family & take care.
