A Peek at my Week

It’s been a busy week, but a good one! Here’s a quick overview:
Monday
In the morning I went to the doctor to get him to sign off my medical. I am officially healthy enough to apply for my visa 🙂
After that I wandered over to one of the conference rooms in the building where the craft ladies were hosting a sewing day for the kids in the area. They do that once every school holidays. Back when I was joining them more regularly we were swamped with about 30 kids one holidays! We then learned to limit numbers and make sure kids registered. This time there were about 8 kids making these cute banners:
Don’t you love the cow fabric on the left?
Tuesday
Tuesday saw me heading to Melbourne on the train to go to the medical board to get my medical stamped. Basically to confirm that the doctor I see is a real doctor. On the phone they told me to come in and they would do it on the spot. Of course from past experience (this being the fourth time I am applying to live in Arabia), I knew that one of three things could happen:
- They stamp it on the spot
- They send me home and send it to me the week after
- They send me home and tell me to come back to pick it up
Turned out that fourth time was unlucky and I had to leave it there and come back another day to pick it up. Even though I know they can post it (they did this last year for DH) they insisted there was no way… so c’est la vie, I took the train home again.
Wednesday
Wednesday was fun day!! I invited myself and friend Heather to spend the day with friend Brenda playing with her Brother and my Ella Elna! We managed to get Ella to make a pretty butterfly with only a few tension issues:
And Brenda made me this pretty coaster on her Brother machine:
Thursday
…..was Australia day and I am sure I did something but can’t remember. Probably housework.
Friday
Back on the train…. with my crochet. Two hours to get to Ahpra… 10 minutes to sign in, go to the 8th floor to pick up my medical, and two hours to get home again. I got a lot of crochet done.
Saturday
Woke up to a text from Susan saying Happy Birthday! I had brecky with Mum and then we went to Gail’s to spend some money 🙂 I bought this jelly roll with matching layer cake:
I have a very special project in mind for these yummy bits of fabric 🙂 It’s a secret 🙂
So that was my week… off to see what you all were up to!
Belated happy birthday……………
Oh my–cant believe that you had to go back to Melbourne for a piece of paper–at least you entertained yourself with that really pretty yarn!!
love the butterfly, too–
and that new fabric–is one that I am looking at, too–really nice colors–just up my ‘alley’ as they say–
it is cold here in Fl today–got socks and sweaters and a quilt over my lap–
did get to have dinner with Sunny and her hubby last night –we went to a Restaurant down the road from me about 3/4 mile–yet it was the first time I had been there–they had eaten there 2 years ago and loved it (that was before I moved down here)-we had a good meal–and we sat outside–on the deck–in the cold!!!
Enjoy the moments-di
Ha, thought I’d get in early & great talking later. Did you get my email?
The butterfly looks great & can’t wait to see the crochet when finished.
Have a good week & take care.
You know I like that cow banner!! And I am pretty sure I am going to have to get some Bumble Berries–in honor of your birthday!!! You have been a busy girl, now you need to spend some time chillin’ and sewing.
I am back–I think I forgot to say–
Happy Birthday to you–
shame on me–
soooo-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY–
love, di
Happy belated birthday to you, and love your fabric choice. When are you heading os?
Belated Birthday wishes!! Isn’t it just as well you have a hobby to do on the train – what a process to go through to get the right paperwork! I have some of that fabric too – hope to start sewing it up soon for the two step-grandie-girls. The embroidery pieces are beautiful 🙂
Happy Birthday!! Such a hassle to get all the paperwork, but at least you put the time to good use. That fabric looks really pretty. And your embroideries are both very nice.
all in all a successful week…… ending with a lovely gift. Happy Birthday…
