I had a great day yesterday at Nora’s. And I remembered to take a few pics 🙂 She has moved shop since last April, and it is going to take me a while to find things, but I am sure I will get there…
Her shop is in a house, so there are two or three different rooms filled with goodies. She actually needs more space, so there may be another move in the near future.
There is lots of new fabric too, which is great, just in case I NEED some 🙂
I love the cushions that are on top of the bookshelves…. Nora has one shop assistant that helps her, and she has recently hired a seamstress who makes lovely clothes like this little girl’s dress:

In the middle of the morning, Nora ran out of some dressmaking supplies, so we made a quick trip down to road to a very non-descript shop (on the outside)… but on the inside:
This is the place to get ribbons, threads, buttons, notions, etc, etc, etc. Oh, it also has a huge section of dressmaking fabric….. I’ll take more pics next time, we were in a bit of a hurry…
I came back with a little bag of “necessities”:
Actually, I just went for the pink buttons. I’ll show you soon what they are for. Then I saw the purple ones and thought I’d better buy them for Alice.. and then I saw machine oil and thought I’d better…. and… and…. and then I saw….
How could I resist such colorful hooks? And since I seem to loose them all the time and the set was only a couple of dollars, I thought… yeah… The yarn is a test to see how it hooks up. Nice yarn is not easy to come by in Arabia.
So that was a lovely little side trip I thought 🙂
Back to Nora’s and I worked on binding for the strings topper which I will try to sew on tonight while joining in on FNSI…. in fact, I am going to sign off and start working on that right now…
Thanks for the photos–great items and Alice will love those buttons–
enjoy the moments, diane
Awesome shops. I love the little dress. Pattern???
Hi Joy ,thankyou for showing us the shops, how do the prices compare to Australia,is the quilting fabric dearer or cheaper over there, love that little dress,i am off to Geelong for the weekend, enjoy your new purchases.
What fun!! Her shop has grown a lot. And that notion store looks awesome. Have fun sewing–not sure if I will get any done tonight or not. Mt. Dirty Laundry is erupting.
Do some for me please!
Thanks for posting pics of said shops, as it is nice to see what is on the other side of the world. Oh, did you really need all those bits? (giggle). I’d better get that hook holder done now by the time you get home again. Fabric is sitting on a tub ready to go, but I keep getting caught up with other things.
Have a good weekend & take care.
You can never have too many ‘necessities’
Looks like a great shop……
Lovely stores! I only wish we had something comparable here!!
Nice to explore your ‘old’ haunts and find new ones. Your necessities look absolutely vital – good buying!!
