The ladies in the local quilt guild over here have been very busy! They have made over 50 charity quilts, and yesterday we sat down together for a binding day.
It was lovely to catch up with old friends… we had so much fun chatting and sewing! Just like a good old fashioned quilting bee.. except we had our modern machines and used them to pop the binding on.
Isn’t that a pretty Bernina my dear friend Evelyn lent me? She is our local Bernina dealer, and a lovely lady she is too! One day I will show you pics of her awesome shop! But today there was no shopping, we were all heads down and the machines were going 100 miles an hour…
We sewed them on by machine, very similar to the tutorial I did the other day, but we used a straight stitch to finish them on the front:
Many hands make light work.. we finished quite a few.
After all that hard work some of us went out to lunch together at a nearby coffee shop:
I had a yummy smoked salmon sandwich with salad… I think all that binding made me so hungry that I forgot to take a pic 🙂
Today I am about to head out the door because I am going with DH on a business trip. We are tacking on a few extra days for a small vacation… it is actually one of my favorite places in the world… it is pretty, but most of that area is very dead… any guesses?
Hi Joy,maybe you are going to Egypt, lol,i dont know my maps and where countries are but i hope you have a lovely time.
Well done ladies getting the quilts finished.
Well done to all the ladies. Pretty machine & to think my “new machine” is nearly 23 years old, but I do love my Bernina as they are so trustworthy. Are you going to do a cruise on the Dead Sea? (lol) Take care.
The desert? That is a pretty machine……….
Is it the Egyptian Pyramids? There are no other countries near Arabia that I would want to visit except Egypt. Yeman, Oman, Pakistan, etc., just scares the daylights out of me although I’m sure there us some beautiful natural scenery. Safe travels. Your binding party sounds like fun!!
No guesses from me, will wait patiently for a report when you return. Enjoy your time together.
Great work to all of you with those quilts….. Hmmm … I wonder where you are going… my first thought was the Dead Sea …
