If you thought that me doing the 30 Day of UFOs challenge was crazy, then I am wondering what you think about this next challenge I am taking part in….. sheer madness perhaps? Probably…
Last week I was surfing the web and came across the #100 Day Project. Of course, I was immediately intrigued. 100 days of doing something creative? Cool!
But what could I realistically do for 100 days without being totally stressed out and going crazy? Well, another thing I’d been recently looking at on Pinterest was embellished Hexagons. I was totally in awe of this lovely quilt in particular 🙂
So when I saw the 100 Day Project, I thought, why not combine the two? Why not do 100 Days of Embellished Hexies?
I ran it past Alice of course.
She thought it was a good idea of course.
And she said she would join in… you’ll have to go to her blog to see what she is doing for the challenge.
The challenge started on the 4th of April and goes till 12th of July.
My goal is to make 100 embellished hexies by the end of the challenge. They will be all different sizes, some will be simple, some will be more elaborate depending on the time I have that day. I will allow myself to have duplicates to put together as a “grandmother’s flower”, but I will try to do as many techniques as I can over the whole challenge. I will not put them all together until after the challenge, unless I feel like sewing a few little ones together. They won’t all go into one big quilt – I’ll be making table runners, toppers and at least one quilt with the 100 Hexies….
Luckily I’ve already started a collection of embellishments…
I’m sure I’ll “need” more 🙂
Part of the challenge is posting a pic on Instagram every day, so if you can follow me if you are interested. I will be doing a post every week here as well, if you aren’t on Instagram.
So here’s to 100 Embellished Hexies! Hope I am still somewhat sane by July 12th! (Although you could argue that I am not sane now 🙂 )
OK, I’m definitely be leaving this one up to you. I’ve really got enough on my plate at the moment with our UFO challenge & my own stash busting/my designs exercise. Sometimes I really need a helper, when I come up with a problem of what to quilt on a top or an out of whack block. She happens to be abroad at the moment!!! Take care.
Thank you for the link to my blog!

Hi Joy sounds like an interesting challenge.
This sounds so exciting! But I am not taking it on – I just have too many things to finish! No more starts for a while for me. I am going to see if I can look at your photos on Instagram, because I am eager to see what you’re doing. And I look forward to your posts about it!
well done you…. I’ll look for you on Insta…
