What do you do with a really cute piece of fabric?
You play with it of course! And here is how…..
On Wednesday Nora held a Stack and Whack class at the shop. She had to go out for an hour or so to do some paperwork, so I helped out while she was gone.
Here is the sample she made:
Close up of one of the blocks:
And, you guessed it, she used that cute fabric for it…
The ladies all used different types of fabric of course, I loved the way this block turned out:
Back to the cute fabric….
The more I looked at it, the more I loved it! So I bought a yard (only) because I had a plan in mind… it’s a secret, I’ll tell you more another day 🙂
When I got home I laid it out flat and had another good look at the fabric… and spotted this cuteness:
…and decided that my hexie for that day would be to fussy cut the kitty cat…
Yesterday I fussy cut another one… less cute, but will fit in the theme when I put them all together:
The hexies are 3 inches, and I will put them together into a small table topper to put a candle or vase on. I think it is going to turn out really cute, don’t you? And I will still have some left to do my secret project…. Of course there are meters and meters back at the shop in case I “need” more 🙂
I remember doing stack and wack years ago–might have been one of my first quilts–have no idea right now what I did or where it went–
do like that fabric–cute–
enjoy the moments, diane
So when are we going to START one of those cool Stack and Whack quilts. Actually I think that we already did. Hee hee hee!! And you know that I love that cute fabric with the cute kitty.
Looking forward to see what you do with that fabric.
Hi Joy wow that quilt is amazing ,loving the blocks well done.xx
amazed at the fussy cutting they did in the class would not know where to start to do that. Your hexies have worked so well too they will make a great table topper
Stack ‘n’ whack is a great one for both cute & interesting fabrics. I’ve done one, but saw the most amazing one at AQC yesterday. My camera played up, so didn’t get any photos, but know someone who may have one I can send to you. Look forward to seeing your secret project. Will you be back by around the 21st to 25th June? Take care.
An awful lot of potential in that fabric – a stack and whack is on my ever growing “want to do” list.
Love your fussy cutting.
Love those kaleidoscope quilts!! And the purply block is amazing. I cannot imagine what your secret project is but I’ll be look out for it!!
I did a stack and whack kind once – but just in 4squares…. you are having to be inventive with your hexagons…
Hugz
Love your fussy cut kitty cat! I bought 4 cat themed fabrics from the members stall at the Begonia Quilters Fair (and have several more in my stash) so I’m thinking maybe an eye spy quilt for myself from cat fabric. Thanks for the inspiration. hugs Tania PS: the scrap bag fabrics went down a treat!
Amazing what she did with this fabric – I do love those stack and whack quilts with one fabric. Your fussy cutting of the cute kitty is fabulous – I’m interested to see what else you have lined up for this fabric!
