Once we got the cases, we all dashed into the sewing room to open them and get started! Here is what I found when I opened mine…
A double Irish Chain! In blue!
Now I have to say, I have always wanted to do an Irish Chain.. it’s been on my quilting bucket list (along with an autumn leaf one, and a wholecloth, and …. and…. and….). And blue is my second favorite color (it used to be my most favorite until I had my midlife crisis and changed to pink)… so I was very happy with what I got in my case!
We managed to get a few hours of sewing in on Friday before and after dinner.. then off to the caravan park to sleep.
Saturday morning we were back at Judy’s for brecky and straight to the sewing room to do lots of chain sewing….
After a few hours Block A was done….
And popped nicely back into the case for safe keeping:
More chain sewing….
… and Block B was done….
As I was stitching the final bits on Block B, Bernie started to complain (Bernie Bernina)… when she starts to say “clunk, clunk, clunk” I know it is time to give her a clean….
Yep, lots of fluff!
A quick clean and back to work… putting the blocks together and then the borders….. and by the end of Saturday the top was done:
Pretty isn’t it?
I am so pleased 🙂 Now to work out how to quilt it.. I am thinking I might hand quilt it! Am I crazy or what?! Don’t answer that….
So… Saturday I was done… and there were still two days to go! Tune in next time for Part 3!
Oh, I’ve just caught up with all your posts about the ‘Retreat’, now that I have internet again, here at home. Pity neither caravan park had any access, so on a bit of catch up tonight. Will do my post about it……. maybe, tomorrow. So tired after such a fun weekend with some wonderful ladies. I couldn’t believe how quick you all sew & just how slow I was. (giggle). Look forward to more of your news. Enjoy the rest of the week & take care.
