Sunday morning it was back to work… Two of us were done and started working on our own projects.
I started by finishing these three blocks I had started the night before:
They are for a fabric collection I have for sale and I am going to make up a few kits – one set for the quilt that comes with the collection, and one for a smaller, simpler one that Yvonne and I worked out last week. It is a quick and easy block, but I didn’t bring all the fabric, so only had enough for three.
So then I worked on this applique block which is from a kit from the shop, and a few of us are doing one block a week over the Arabian summer:
It’s going to be a calendar quilt and another one of those “always wanted to make one of these” quilts.
After I finished that, I had pretty much run out of things to do! So Judy was kind enough to let me grab another case and work on another project!
Now there is something special about this quilt… other than the cute name…. this pattern is going to be up for sale at some stage and I am going to teach a class on it in Arabia! How cool is that!
Now, on with what was inside:
Alice! Don’t you love it!
Of course you saw a quick preview of it a few days ago… more chain sewing…
Cross cutting and ironing…
… and of course spilling cups of tea on it. Thankfully there were only a few that have stains, and I will give it a good wash when it is all done.
Block 2 was a bit more challenging:
On Monday my energy levels started getting rather low…. so after finishing four rows I decided to call it quits…
Not far to go though, and I’ll get it done when I get home – no it is NOT becoming a UFO… really! You guys can check up on me 🙂
So that is all of the stuff I did… but on Judy’s blog you can see what everyone else got up to! Go check it out, because the quilts are all so beautiful!
We did get a group photo, that Susan’s hubby kindly took of all of us, and Judy printed it out for us all to have a look at…
A lovely selection of quilts.. and in amongst all the sewing there was lots and lots of chatting and laughing! It was so nice to meet the other ladies and I am hoping I’ll get to go back again one day and have another fun weekend with this group of quilters.
Thanks Judy for an awesome weekend!!!!
Thanks so much for coming, it really was a fantastic weekend, but then it’s always a great time when a group of quilters gets together.
Love your blocks & the 2nd quilt from the cases. It is so pretty. Hugs, xx
Great job, Joy! I find that on Day 4 of retreat, I run out of steam, too. It’s always nice to have a variety of projects to work on, and you even got one top completed!!
Ooh! I love all three things!! Of course you knew that. Looks like you guys had a blast. I am very, very jealous!!
It was an amazing weekend & everyone achieved so much (except the tortoise – me), and all the quilts were gorgeous. I do hope Judy gets some pics up of them quilted & bound. So glad you talked me into going. Take care.
