… instead of sewing….. ‘Tis a very sad fact of life….
When I headed back to Oz two months ago, I tidied up my sewing room and made sure I covered as much as I could with sheets and towels….
By the time I got back last week, the rest of the sewing room…. and yes, the whole apartment, looked like this:
After some trial and error I worked out that it was better to vacuum all the surfaces first, before I attacked them with a damp cloth…. less mud 🙂
Dust was not the only thing I found when I got back. Friends of ours who are leaving Arabia had some household items they weren’t taking back home with them to Germany. They asked if we needed anything, like pots and pans and odds and ends, and of course I said yes! We only came with our suitcases, so we don’t have a lot. Thanks to these friends and some others, I think my kitchen has what it needs now 🙂
So other than cleaning, I have been unpacking my suitcase and sorting all these things:
I now have a nice set of pans, some casserole dishes, too many glasses, wrapping paper and even a Christmas tree 🙂 There are a few things I don’t need, so I will pass them on, but I am very thankful that there was a lot of useful stuff in there.
Got a bit more cleaning to do tomorrow and then maybe, … just maybe… I can finally start sewing again…!
Hope you all are getting more sewing done than me!
A clean workspace is vital when working with fabric isn’t it…. not that it is fun at all! Lovely to get those other extra’s – I always find it fun seeingwhat other people use.
Hugz
Definitely looks like some work before the fun stuff can happen. So glad you arrived safely. Lovely to be gifted some bits and bobs to make your life there more comfortable xx
Glad you arrived safe & sound Joy. Lovely to be gifted bits & pieces. Hugs, xx
It is a bummer that you have to waste so much sewing time, dusting; but we do what we must.
Hope you are done with all of that and are on to doing fun stuff.
Oh, that dust must be infuriating & not sure I could deal with it all the time. I’ve had fits & starts with sewing lately, as it’s been so cold with lots of frosts here (Ballarat too), & just not motivated, but hopefully that won’t last long.
Talk soon & take care.
Hi Joy,oh boy thats a lot of dust, hope it cleans up quickly for you,how lovely of your friends to leave you some of there things.
Cant imagine how hot it is there as we are freezing here, lol, bet you dont miss the cold, glad you are back there safe and sound my friend xx
The domestics are just one of those awful facts of life…hope you can get it all done asap and then sew!
Gosh that dust looks pesky! I guess it’s a fact of life over there? Great that you knew some kind people who could leave you some useful stuff..it will feel more like home now with a few things in the cupboards!
