Boy it was hot and humid in Dubai, even when I went to the airport at 5am yesterday to pick DD up. Thank goodness for aircon in the taxis and hotels. And to think that it snowed back in Ballarat! We missed out!
We are staying in an apartment hotel, which is quite nice, because it has a kitchenette in it. There is a little mini mart on the ground floor where I bought some basic groceries to last the two days we are here. On our way back from Holland we will be here 8 nights and then I’ll go to a proper supermarket. But for such a short stay we were both too stuffed to leave the hotel… so we just stayed put and relaxed.
24 Hour Craftsy Special
Did any of you make the most of the 24 hours of free watching on Craftsy? I watched a few episodes in between travelling and napping 🙂
Reading and Relaxing
I bought two books from Kobo (I only read ebooks now, on my tablet) before I left on this trip:
My relaxing yesterday involved finishing the new Inspector Gamache book Glass Houses. I started it on the plane trip over, and finished it yesterday. It was good 🙂 I also made myself quite a few cups of tea! Love having a kettle in my hotel room!
Yoyos!
I also made some yoyos… the first step in my yoyo crochet blanket or whatever it is I am making (haven’t decided yet!). I think I will make all the yoyos first, then sew the anchor stitches around it, and then I will crochet around them. It’s a plan at least…
Next stop – Holland!
So today we are off on our next leg to Holland – 7 1/2 hours, so not too bad compared to the 14 hours from Melbourne to here.
Dubai – From the Air
I’ll leave you with a few pics of the view coming in to Dubai the day before yesterday:
Still sandy like Arabia, but closer to the city there are trees and some vegetation…
Looks like a nice big swimming pool!
The style of the houses in Dubai are very similar to the houses in Arabia. Flat roofs and plenty of palm trees.
That’s it for today folks.. I have a plane to catch, so better pack up my computer in my old kit bag…. my yoyos and I will catch you again soon in the land of the windmills!!
Hi Jo oh this sounds like a wonderful trip, thankyou for sharing your pics,it’s nice to see what other countries look like, safe travels my friend xx
Agree with Shez – love seeing pictures from other parts of the world. Hope to see tons from Holland! Enjoy your trip and your time with DD.
Sounds like the perfect vacation so far–sewing, reading and chilling!!
Have fun!!!
Joy Enjoy! How i miss those days and your posts allow me to wander down memory lane with you. But you reminded me of that horrible Dubai heat plus humidity. Not a good combination. However possibly still better than the rain we are experiencing. Have fun with family in Holland. Looking forward to keeping up with your travels.
Sounds like you are having a wonderful time 🙂 Enjoy it all!
Well done with the Yo-yo’s. I was interested that you found Dubai hot after Arabia….. lovely pictures – it’s amazing what has been done in the desert…
