Aussies in the (Dutch) Bush

It was pouring today and tomorrow there are storm warnings 🙂 But while it was still dry we drove to a nearby forest and went for a little walk in the Dutch bush…
I had to chuckle, because Dad, being such a Dutch-Aussie, brought his Jacaru hat with him 🙂 He’s been wearing it wherever we go, which has actually been quite handy because we can’t lose him – just look for a worn out brown hat bobbing around and there he is!
We parked across the road from the path into the woods, and said hello to these cows:
Isn’t the house behind them gorgeous?
Dutch cows look pretty similar to Aussie cows…. 🙂
The woods are not cleared here, not much chance of bush fires. So any trees or branches that fall down are just left there to decompose or become homes for animals….
Loved the mushrooms in the photo above….
Mostly we were looking for heather…
Found some, but the flowers were not a very vibrant purple, so they didn’t come up too well on the photos.
Dad found something that reminded him of his childhood….
Hard to see, but it is an acorn still attached to a bit of branch… I also used to find them as a child and pretend I was smoking a pipe 🙂
Next time I will give you a yoyo update… and some pics of a wool shop we went to 🙂
Lovely countryside. Love the little pipe your Dad is holding. The heather is so pretty. Hugs,xx
Lovely, but it’s more like woods than bush(lol). I noticed the little toadstools & the “dutch gabled roof” house immediately, but didn’t spot your Dad’s acorn pipe till mentioned. Thanks for the lovely photos. Ah, just twigged, it’s now autumn there isn’t it. Enjoy & take care.
lovely pictures and fun memories…
Hugz
Sounds like you’re having a good time! How special to be able to visit your dad.
Hi Joy ,i never relized Holland had bush i always pictured it as flat cleared land, lol.
I also didnt realize your parents still lived over there, how lovely you have the chance to visit your relies, hope you have a lovely day my friend xx
What a lovely wander you had….love your Dads hat xx
true that the cows look the same – but not so much the GREEN grass. Our Aussie farmers would love that.
can see you are having a great time presume cows look very content I expect soon they will be taken in for the winter, here they are kept inside when the weather gets a bit colder unlike the sheep that stay out all year.
How lovely to get out for a walk in the woods. Your dad looks to be having a good time. 🙂
Love the countryside photos so much 🙂
