What a fun day we had yesterday! My friend Elke took me into the beautiful old town of Bamberg…. and we went into all the best shops 🙂
First up was a shop where they recycle clothes to make bags, aprons and other odds and ends….
The lighting wasn’t great, so I didn’t get a lot of photos inside…
Or outside for that matter… the sun was in the wrong spot and I kept getting reflections…
Someone had been busy making these little boxy pouches…
and next to them a basket with thimbles and little chook pincushions!
At least I think that is what they are… I got one pretty butterfly thimble and one chooky 🙂
Next stop a fabric and yarn shop…
I must say, fabric is NOT cheap here!!
Elke spotted this cute owl pincushion and sewing odds and ends keeper… and look, more crochet covered jars!
Then this pretty arrangement caught our eye:
And we had to go in to look at all the pretty soap and candles…
ONLY bought some lavender and a little piece of lavender soap:
After that we went to a bigger fabric and yarn shop:
I saw this gorgeous shawl when we walked in and I fell in love with it… and bought the yarn to make it…
The pattern is in German, but I think I will be able to figure it out. The yarn is so pretty, variegated with a strand of silver going through it.
The yarn is the same color as the scarf in the shop, so though it looks a bit orangey on the pic above, it is really more pink… Â Can’t wait to start it!
We’ve found in our travels recently that many of the shops don’t like credit cards… Â but this one quite happily accepted my Aussie credit card to pay for this pile of goodies:
Not sure if DH will be as happy when he see the bank statement.. but they are all Very Necessary Items… really 🙂
Good thing I’ll be teaching some classes when I get back to Arabia!!!
Elke also bought some fabric and I’ll show you tomorrow what we are doing with that! For now I am going to post this and get ready to go to the sewing room!!!
Looks like a good time was had by all, and essential purchases were made!
That shawl is gorgeous. No wonder you were tempted. I could almost smell all those beautiful candles and lavender. What a fun day you had x
I am in love with that shawl too 🙂
your life when you get home will be ‘boring’—after all the adventures you have been on the last couple of months–love all the goodies–
enjoy the moments, di
Looks like you had a good time. Love the shawl, so pretty. Hugs,xx
I don’t blame you for wanting to do that shawl… it’s so pretty.
Hugz
Fun! I may have to look for a similar shawl pattern. (Like I need more projects…)
Lovely day out with a big haul of goodies. I do love that shawl too, but I’m sure I’d not work out the pattern in German. Maybe you can translate it for me when you get home (lol). Enjoy the rest of your holiday.
