Welcome to Day 24 of How to Earn $ From Sewing and Quilting! This week we are talking about Designing and Selling Patterns, and today we’ll be looking at Finding Inspiration.
Today’s post will be short and sweet for two reasons….
Dione from Clever Chameleon Quilting….
…. is writing about this topic this month as part of her Write 31 challenge… and there is LOTS of inspiration there! So go check it out!!
Inspiration is Not Usually a Problem for Quilters!
I mean really… I can’t sleep sometimes thinking of new quilt ideas, can you? Most quilters I know constantly think about quilt designs.. and what they want to make next. Not all of us turn those ideas into patterns, of course, but the potential is there. Even the picture of the chalk above inspires me to design a quilt….
Wherever I go I see things that remind me of quilts… like the patterns on footpaths..
Or on the doors here in Arabia….
Or even Judy’s front door mat….. ( 🙂 )
(Notice there is no mud on her front door mat… just threads…. haha!!)
So for me inspiration is not a problem… how about you?
I’ll be back tomorrow to look at Designing and Selling Patterns – Using a Quilt Design Program
PS Please remember I am answering your comments in the comment section below and not via email like I usually do. Sorry for the hassle, but I am hoping this month we can share ideas!

Can’t believe you took a photo of my door mat! And yes, there are threads everywhere here. Even on my clothes, I tell people it is part of my uniform!!
Haha! I thought you’d like that!!! I took it one day when the heater was turned up TOO HIGH and I had to go outside and cool off 🙂 Yes, I also suffer from Sticky Thread Syndrome… and wear them quite proudly! xx
Yes, I too have some strange photos for ideas. Love Judy’s mat with threads on it, but then they are always here too. I’ve even gone out & someone picked a thread off me once. A bit embarrassing! Take care.
I am forever finding threads everywhere.. and photos on my camera that I think… now why did I take that? Oh, it has a pretty pattern 🙂 xxx
Hahaha! I love the threads on the door mat. Other parents are always picking threads off me at school pick up time – I don’t even have to do it myself anymore! I’ve got past embarrassed. By the time they’ve given up on me, my daughter will be at an age where the threads will cause her parent-shame and she’ll do it for me instead! 🙂 lol
Thanks for the blog shout out….. very kind. Deliberately recording some of that constant stream of ideas that most quilters seem to have has been fun. Did you know, bricks and doors designs was one of my few remaining ideas for a post, but now I can just have the day off and refer my readers here! Most excellent! Actually, I’m not sure I am actually going to finish my bricks and doors post….. most modern paving and doors in Australia are Boring and I’m struggling for good pics. But, I bet you can picture me in Dubai airport, getting left behind the rest of the family…. “Daaaaaad…. Mum’s stopped to take another photo of a door…..”. I didn’t take pics of doors in Vanuatu and now I regret it. Maybe I need to check out my neighbours’ door mats……
Anyway, you’re just getting to my favourite topic – designing and selling patterns. Looking forward to your next few posts! xx
Well I’m glad I am not the only one who takes pics of pavements and doors! I reckon I have enough of both to fill up a couple of posts 🙂 My family is also always losing me because I am taking yet another pic of something inspiring!! xx
