In the last post I promised to show you some pictures of another project from craft on Monday…
Lovely Raelene has been working on this beautiful hexagon quilt for a while now… last week I asked her to bring it along so I could see her progress..
This is how far she is:
Isn’t it lovely?
I had to take some closeups..
So she has combined lace, doilies and hankies to put on the hexies..
I just love the variety…
Raelene’s been collecting these for a while! I am not sure how big the quilt is going to be, but she says it will still take a while to finish it 🙂
I love the embroidered lady with the flowers in the one below… oh, and the one above it – upside down, looks like someone on the beach under a palm tree?? With a sombrero??!
I reckon it is almost an eye spy quilt… all the hexies are so different…
Now I have been collecting doilies too…. one day I’ll have enough and hope to start on one of these 🙂
Have any of you made something like this?
Oh my what a lovely quilt–I wanna make one too–and I have some dollies and some hankies–so I could start one–!!!
Do you know what size hexie is her basis?????
are you still in AU for the holidays???
Merry Christmas–di
The quilt will be beautiful. I have a large collection of hand embroidered doilies and some table clothes. I have been collecting them for the last 30 years. I use them throughout my house and love them all. I think about the ladies that did the embroidery, the hours it would have taken, the satisfaction they would have felt when the piece was finished and displayed. Recently a friend gave me her mother’s and grandmothers collection of doilies etc. Some were beyond repair but had pieces that could be salvaged, so I made her a zippered bag entirely out of the collection for her little treasures as a thank you. She was thrilled as she recognised pieces that had been embroidered by her mother and grand mother. Merry Christmas Joy, praying for a cool day. Luv Lenore

I rarely use the overused word “awesome,” but that quilt truly deserves the use thereof. Awesome!
