Bright Pink Girlie Apron & Other UFOs

I thought I’d better set a good example this year and finish a UFO early in the month 🙂 I decided to tackle this bright pink girlie girl apron…
As I was sorting out which UFOs were getting shipped to our next destination, and which I wanted to take with me in the suitcase, I picked a few that would be quick finishes, like the apron, and some that were quilts and would take longer.
The little girl’s bright pink girlie apron only needed the pocket sewn on, and all the ties as well…
(Notice the thread holder in the background?! I couldn’t help myself, had to set it up even though it will be packed away soon! Remember there is a tutorial here to make it!)
Anyway, the apron… it only took about 20 minutes to finish, yet another one of those UFOs that you think – why didn’t I finish it earlier??? Now to find a little girlie girl to give it to… or sell it…
In the pile of UFOs I want to tackle first, there are a few more quick ones like the apron…
For the ones that will take more time… I picked this one first:
This was a Block of the Month that Alice and I started back in 2009. It was our year of starting BOMs… and our year of starting UFOs too I think… 🙂
It’s called A Quilter’s Blessing.. and I am sure some of you started it too – did anyone finish it?
Well, I picked out the fabric last year, and then forgot about it… so it is getting done this year! For sure! I’ve done all the stitcheries, just need to put them together and then quilt it… can’t be too hard???!
The next quilt was one I really wanted to get done last year and for some reason lost the plot and it got no further:
Can’t remember when I started it, but again, it has been a UFO for a while…
Last quilt I want to show you today is this one:
It is one of the star quilts that I have made so many of… using 10″ squares out of my 10″ square scrap pile.
(This quilt top can be made in less than an hour… and I will do a tutorial one of these days 🙂 I have hunted the net and haven’t found one, so I might as well do it, right?)
In any case, I want to finish it in the next few days because I am teaching a class on it next week.. so would like to have it done.
This is the same design as the star quilt I gave my mum, but after having taken this picture, I am not sure about the brown corners… it would have been better to have the same cream for them… however, I was using scraps, so I didn’t have anymore of that fabric…
It looks interesting on point:
In any case, I still like the fabric and am going to finish it and keep it for me 🙂 All it needs is border strips and cornerstones… and then it needs to be quilted…
There you go… I got some UFOs picked out to work and even finished one…. now I have 86 to go!
PS Don’t forget you’re invited to join me in cutting YOUR UFOs in half this year!

Ha, I found you on instagram, where I follow you, too, (gingerkwilt) and now I have subscribed to the blog again. I don’t know what happened to my subscription from before. The apron is adorable, good finish! I like the star quilt and would enjoy seeing a tutorial on it. I don’t see anything wrong with the brown corners, myself.
I laughed when you said you started the Quinlan one and then lost the plot. I have cut out pieces and then could’t remember what I planned to do with them by the time I got back to them! LOL
Good luck with your UFO pile.
Love the apron. So very cute. Love you start quilt. good luck with the ufo’s you’ve chosen to work on. Hugs,xx
Hi Joy i love all these projects but i cant wait for you to do a tutorial on the star quilt i got to see the one you made at craft and i loved it,hope you have a lovely weekend my friend xx
Lovely projects there Joy, looking forward to seeing your finished results 😊
Well done you, especially with a move imminent. Your stitchery quilt sounds like mine, with all done & then what to do with them, but of course you’ve seen the one I did. I’ve taken the big step today & loaded an old quilt on Bubs. Found I’d made it in January 2000!!!! I designed a quilt like your big star one, though not sure what the size was, way back when I got my Quilt Wizard program. I may still join in???? Take care.
Love the bright, fun apron. It does feel good to have a UFO finished quickly, even if it does make you wonder why you stopped in the first place. Good luck with the next UFOs.
so funny how some quick ones are there to be done… good to get a tick off so early. some lovely projects. I did that one of Rosie’s houses and will do it again sometime … love your big bold stars…
Hugz
You will have some lovely finishes there Joy… keep sewing!
yaah for quick to finish UFOs! The pink apron is very cute and will be loved by someone one day 🙂 The brown corners add a bit of extra interest to the star a nd rather than try to match a cream I admire your thought to think outside the box! It seems like you are doing a bit of packing….!
I did notice the thread holder, even before you said. 🙂 A finish already! Go you! Your brown squares turn your star block into a 3D design. So, that makes them a feature. 🙂
