Yes, I have a finish! The hand stitching of the binding on the butterfly quilt is done!
This quilt was from a class I taught last year. I think I might be the last one to finish it completely 🙂 I did at least have the top finished when I taught the class, but I am pretty sure my students finished theirs before I did!
I found the pattern here, and got permission to use it for my class. I always try to get permission before I use other people’s patterns or techniques in my classes….
This is not a difficult quilt, but for some reason I unpicked soooo many blocks!!! It’s probably the most unpicked quilt I have ever made – which is very unusual because my motto is :
“never unpick”
(I’ll explain that motto in more detail one day…) but this quilt certainly tested my patience – totally my fault I might add, nothing to do with the pattern or designer!!!
Thankfully my students had their wits about them a bit more than I did and had less unpicking to do… here is one of the finished quilts done with lovely batiks:
Another lady chose softer colors for a baby quilt:
I think they were a set of fat quarters she had tucked away for a while… didn’t it turn out lovely?
What caught my eye with this pattern was the way the butterflies are all angled differently…
… I think it makes it look like they are dancing….
Almost finished with packing, tomorrow we are moving furniture out of the apartment and cleaning it… and next week we fly out… the Butterfly Quilt is going in a box to be shipped over in a few weeks… I’m glad I got it done 🙂
PS I’m linking up to Finish it Friday & Whoop Whoop!
Great quilts. i once made a butterfly quilt with a similar pattern for my daughter.
Such pretty quilts … the butterflies look about to flitter away 😊
Beautiful quilts. I love how the butterflies are angled too. Hugs,xx
What a neat looking quilt–I love butterflies–and even though you had to do a lot of unpicking–it was well worth it–and now look at the lovely quilt you have to show for it–
Have ‘fun’ cleaning–time for another new adventure–
enjoy, di
Hi Joy wow i love these butterfly quilts and good to see them in other fabrics, are you shipping it over to me,lol xx
I’m totally shocked you found the time & energy to finish a quilt whilst packing up your home. You are amazing, I’m calling you Wonder Woman from now on! A belated Happy Australia Day Mate to you, Cameron & Elizabeth x x x
Woo Hoo!!! Congrats!! It turned out awesome. I remember the unpicking. I think I was unpicking something at the same time. Sorry you have to clean. Sewing is much more fun!!!
Congratulations on another finish, Joy! Your quilt is beautiful – as are the different renditions of it – the movement in the quilts is perfectly fitting 🙂
Love it… great to see the others too and thanks for the link…
