…slowly…. well, actually I think we are settling in quicker than I expected… of course our shipment isn’t here yet, in fact it hasn’t even left Arabia, but I brought enough with me in our 6 suitcases to make our little one bedroom apartment start to look like home…
… Yes… 6 suitcases…
The rest is coming in 16 boxes I think….. 🙂
Before we left Arabia to come to the Emirates, we looked online for places to stay… we’ve found a place that is furnished (what little furniture we had couldn’t come) and just a 5 minute walk from the office for DH. It is a 1 minute walk to the metro for me if I want to go to any of the malls…
The living area is quite small.. compared to what we had in Arabia… and back home in Oz…
I made sure I brought my strings table topper, my tea thermos and teacup with me in the suitcase…
Makes me feel at home already… 🙂
Nina is unpacked but not quite set up yet…
After having a huge sewing room in the last three houses we lived in, I now have to go back to having my sewing stuff in our bedroom… It will be a bit tight, but I will manage… actually the bedroom is the same size as the living area! So while the living area is small, the bedroom is quite big.
We are on the 23rd floor…. a bit different from our 3/4 acre block of land back home!!! Our view is not of gum trees, but…
Quite an improvement from our last apartment where the view was another wall….
At night we look out on this:
I need to work out how to do a proper night time photo with our camera… but I do quite like looking out at all the lights…
…. and during the day and at night I wonder… where do all those cars go????
Back “home” in our little country town outside of Ballarat I could sit on my front porch and count the cars that go by… here there’s a few too many to count 🙂
We have done some basic shopping of essentials… like some food… a set of pots and pans, some casserole dishes… and this:
Now I am ready to sew 🙂
I’m a bit behind on visiting blogs, and commenting, but I will catch up! I am also behind on some blog posts I wanted to write, including one on the Free Block of the Month Alice and I are hosting this year! More on that in two days time… I’ll see you then 🙂
Oh wow–on the 23rd floor–guess you aren’t afraid of elevators!!!
Apt is really a nice looking one and what a view–love good views from windows–(I once lived in an apt that the front window looked at a brick wall and it was just 3-4 ft from the window–you felt like the wall was always going to fall into your living room so had to keep the curtains pulled shut!!) And you are about ready to sew–so for it–and have you checked out any quilt/fabric shops yet???
enjoy, di
while it is not huge it does look like a nice flat to stay in while you are there. How long you going to be there?
sit the camera on something and use time delay …………so your not moving it then when it takes the pic……………..
Yes, that is certainly different from home. No trees, birds or wildlife there & all that way up. Sorry, but no thanks from me Feet firmly on the ground due to my vertigo & fear of lifts. Hope you are soon settled in & make it your own space & back into your sewing. Take care.
Glad to see you have the essentials with you 😁
What a view. Glad you have some essentials with you so that you can sew. Hugs,xx
Cool view!! Looks like you have it all planned out and are ready to sew! It’s possible that you are more organized than I am!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Joy wow what a difference for you ,but i know you will make it work for you, will you cop the dust there like you did in your other place? I wonder what your first project will be in your new home.
Hope your day is a good one my friend xx
I’m sure it be “home” very soon – though I would be missing my big sewing room.
Good to see you have your priorities right, taking Nina with you.
This looks like a lovely apartment, if a bit cramped. You have room to sew – that is the most important thing! And the view is wonderful. It looks like a beautiful place. Glad to hear that the move went well and that you are settling in. But where will you put the other 16 boxes of things that are coming??
Lovely room. Sure will feel more “homeish” when you have more of your things around. Least you have room for Nina! Take care and enjoy getting to know the new city!
I knew I had some catching up to do and wow look at you… Moved in and making yourself at home already. You sound happy… And nice to know you have your priorities right – all set up and ready to sew!
Right priorities – tea, homey tabletopper, and sewing machine. Good for you!
