Would you believe it – I hadn’t even been gone for a week and Nora came to visit, because she missed me soooo much…..!
Well, ok, maybe it was because she needed supplies for her beginner’s class… 🙂 Either way, I was just happy to see her and spend some time with her… shopping!
I am always ready for a trip to the wholesale souk… I even managed to take the metro instead of a taxi, although I did get slightly lost!
I have been to this shop before… and it is awesome! Even better than Aladdin’s Cave back in Arabia! Everything you would ever need in your sewing room (except for fabric) is there…
They have a much bigger range of quilting supplies now than when Nora and I first went to visit this shop, oh, 5 years ago now maybe? So there were lots of new things for me to see…
Upstairs they have lots of beautiful lace, threads and embellishments… I thought these were so cute…
And these…
Lots of metallic thread I need to try one day:
And downstairs there are aisles full of wool/yarn:
Nora and I both loved this collection of cotton yarn from South Africa:
Now I was a pretty good girl.. I only came home with the following:
Couldn’t resist the beaded tassles.. got some purple ones for Alice of course 🙂
I bought these rulers (because most of my rulers are back in Oz, and I was borrowing Nora’s while I was in Arabia):
I haven’t used this brand before, so I’ll be interested to see what they are like.. I bought two rulers from Nora before I left – they are omnigrid I think, so I’ll have to compare the two brands…
I also got this 10 degree ruler:
Just in case I get bored and need to start a new project… right?????
This Hexie ruler looked interesting, and I bought a box of cutting blade refills – love the little cases they come in:
There are 10 packs in a box… with two blades in each pack, so that should last me a while don’t you think?
Last but not least, I got one box of DMCÂ Machine embroidery thread to try out:
We were so exhausted by our shopping spree that we both went home and had a nap.. 🙂
The next day, however, we got together again for lunch and a cuppa… with some yummy desert..
I am totally in love with this lemon tart…. it was awesome!
OH! But wait! There’s more!! I totally forgot about this gorgeous yarn I bought!
I chose this colorway because it had green and apricot that I was hoping would match our furniture… it’s not quite right, but it will probably do…
Now, what shall I make with it? Any ideas????
So, that was our shopping spree… I know I’ll be going back to that shop on my own, but it was nice to be there with Nora.. she was only in town for two nights and has gone back to Arabia…Â I do hope she needs more supplies soon!!

The yarn is beautiful Joy. I’m thinking it would look lovely crotcheted into cushions, centre table piece, mandala. Lucy from Attic 24 has lovely stitch patterns that could be used. I couldn’t see the ply or composition of the ply, how about starting on your first pair of socks. Christine from Winwick Mum has free tutorials for different ply socks. Just some ideas. Can’t wait to see what you decide to do. Xx
Ohh–that lemon tart looks right up my alley–Alice and I will be over next week and we can all go for a treat (wouldn’t dare come without Alice!!)
That yarn is so pretty too-pillows–would be nice–if it is really hot there–but it it is chilly–then a nice lap quilt would work!!!!
Will be waiting to see if you like the rulers!!!
enjoy, di
Lemon tart yumm!!!!. Love the yarn, it’s so pretty. Hugs,xx
What a fun day. Now, I am not sure what was prettier–all those goodies or that lemon tart. Drool!!!! That yarn is really pretty. Can’t wait to see what you come up with.
Wow supplies over load in that shop……glad you got to see Nora…… I’ve got some of those rules I’ve had them for years……
Wow, now that’s a shopping spree … lots of lovelies and useful items 🙂
I soooooo need to go to that shop! pity I’m not planning an overseas trip any time soon. Hmmmm, maybe just as well actually, I wouldn’t be anywhere near as restrained as you, I would need to take an empty case so I could fill it to the brim with all those lovely treasures. Happy sewing.
Oh, and not forgetting I’d have to fill my tummy with some of those lemon tarts! You really are a wicked girl Joy!
It certainly has everything except fabric. My first rulers (large rectangular & sqaure), were both Sew Easy & are still in use today. Makes them about, approximately 25 years old. Love the yarn & will it be cushions, as you were talking about matching your decorating. Have a good week & take care.
So much temptation in that shop!!! love the yarn….
