I realized that I have been so busy that I haven’t taken many photos at all… I managed to scrounge a few from DD, however, so here is an odds and ends post to get you all caught up…
Shopping at Ikea
Luckily the student room that DD is renting is furnished, so we have not had to buy any furniture. A trip to Ikea on the bus was very helpful in buying bedding, dishes, cutlery, a frypan.. and some other essentials…
We forgot a few things like a dish drainer, toilet brush and a rubbish bin 🙂 We might go back or find another household store somewhere nearby. In any case, we managed to remember the most important things!
We also bought a mattress so that I can sleep here for these few weeks… I of course brought my own quilt along… 🙂
When we get home after running all our errands I sit in this little cozy corner and relax before bed…
She has a little kitchen, so we can cook all our own meals.. and I bought a kettle so that I can have endless cups of tea… 🙂
The Cat Cafe…
We’ve had something on most days, but on Sunday I stayed “home” while DD went out to meet a friend of hers at a really fun place… a cat cafe!
If I get time, I’d like to go there… it sounds so cool! Basically the cats have the run of the cafe… and you can go and sit there all day with them if you like 🙂 DD says the cats were really friendly… as you can see in this picture:
By the way, if you are interested in seeing how DD is settling in, you can follow her on Instagram here...
Crocheting… backwards….
My crochet is not doing well… after mindlessly crocheting away, I had a look at it and was not happy…
See it is not lining up properly at join? I thought I’d ignore it first, but then decided I couldn’t …. so I did some backwards crocheting….
It is much quicker than unpicking sewing… and gives me an odd sense of satisfaction, which is quite crazy really….
I am going to give it another go and do some more rounds – if I still can’t get the join to look nice, I will do a different design…
Meanwhile back in Arabia….
… Nora is making this quilt to teach a class….
Isn’t it beautiful??? I think I NEED to make one.. wonder if she has a kit for me….. I will have to ask her, because DH is back in Arabia for work so he could bring it back for me…. 🙂
Till next time….
Hi Joy glad that your daughter is settling in,her flat looks lovely. Love that quilt that Nora is teaching ,hope you have a lovely time in Holland my friend xx
We have an Ikea store a ways from us but not too far. Have not gotten there yet but would like to go just to look. We don’t really need much at our age and since we have downsized. That is what I like about crocheting too. Just one stitch to worry about whereas in knitting I have a hard time getting them all back on the needle correctly after tearing out. I can’t keep track of you! You are helping in getting your daughter settled in Holland, your husband is in Arabia and I can’t remember where you have just moved to!! Nancy
Love DD’s illustrations. Re the crotchet, perhaps commence the next row on a corner not the middle of your work. Are you following a pattern? Xx
It looks like DD is getting settled in nicely and has a human friend to spend time with and lots of fur friends to love if she gets lonely–hummm–maybe I really should think of moving there if I can play and love on cats all day and not have to change litter boxes!!!!!
And like others–I can’t believe how much you and hubby ‘fly’ about from one place to the next and back again!! You must have ‘permanent’ jet lag!!!
enjoy and give DD a hug for me–
An ikea experience is a must do isn’t it? I had to unravel a whole lot of crochet too… and it is satisfying in a way… but not when you see how your work has shrunk so much! haha….. the quilt is lovely…. I wonder if you got a kit…. I’m sure it’s time for a new project after your trip away????
Hugz
Seems DD is settling in & enjoying it, especially having somewhere to go with animals, though think that would suit me too. K says that we have a greyhound cafe somewhere in Vic, so may check that out. I’ve just taught our grand daughter from UK, who is staying with us to crochet. I’ll admit to doing some backwards stuff just lately too. Must try & do a post tomorrow, with some catchup stuff. Love the quilt too. Take care & can’t wait for June.
OK, that is gorgeous. Maybe we both need to make one. There used to be a cat cafe somewhere around here. Not sure if it still exists. You two have been super busy!
