I have to say, I like Central Park. And although it is something you see all the time in the movies, I didn’t realize quite how big it is!
Central Park is just over 800 acres, about the same size as the farm DH grew up on! And you could easily spend more than a day there exploring… We didn’t have that much time, so we made do with wandering around what they call The Children’s District because that is where we happened to be after getting off the subway 🙂
In this area there is a place called The Dairy, which was an actual dairy where they gave the city children milk in the late 19th century.
It looks like it belongs in a fairy tale…
That’s DH all rugged up. I keep losing him because I am not used to seeing him in winter clothes!
There’s a skating rink in this part of the park too, which I would have loved to try out but I was so stuffed after walking all over the place! Would have been easier to tour the park in one of these…
But we are on an mission to get our steps up… which hasn’t been that hard the past few days!!
There were still some remnants of the snow that fell last week:
And signs of spring…
The Carousel is also part of The Children’s District and was first built in 1871..
It has 57 hand crafted horses… and 2 chariots..
Amazing to think they are over 100 years old.. imagine all the children that have enjoyed the rides over the years! What a lovely memory for many…
It was such a beautiful day and the wildlife was also enjoying the sunshine…
After that we wandered out of the park and back to find the subway…
Till another day Central Park… Next stop Brooklyn Bridge….
Sounds like your trip is truly wonderful. Have lots of fun.

I love the expression “all rugged up.” We usually say “all bundled up.” I’ll have to put on my fake Aussie accent sometimes and tell my family to get “all rugged up” to go out. 🙂
800 acres – that’s BIG.
