Yesterday was road trip day… we were off to meet a friend in Fayetteville. He was driving from Charleston, and we decided to meet at Cracker Barrel for lunch…
I thought it was just a restaurant, but first there is a country style store…
With all sorts of fun stuff…
Alice bought a pair of cow salt and pepper shakers.. from the basket in the pic above…
I bought one of these….
We heard a lot of “y’all” throughout the day… 🙂
There were some quilts for sale… made in Tennessee, not China…
There were some very pretty ones.. and the quilting… just lovely…
Love the old stove… and the barn and silo salt & pepper shakers…
No I didn’t buy them.
The restaurant section is also decorated with all sorts of cool country style things..
I had already decided I needed to try “Grits”. I had heard of them, but had no idea what they were… Alice told me they were gross, but the Hashbrown Casserole was yummy… so in order to try them all, I got a breakfast sampler…
Conclusion?
Grits – as my kids like to say, “meh”… they weren’t terrbible, but they weren’t great either….
Hashbrown Casserole – ooooooooooh!!!! Sooooo yummy!!!
Oh, and the biscuits that came with the meal – the best I have had I think… they were delicious!
I decided it is a good thing we don’t live here… we might visit Cracker Barrel too often… 🙂
After lunch, where do y’all think we went?
PS Happy Easter!!!!!
Ahh–meany not showing us photos of the quilt shop–maybe tomorrow!!
and I love Cracker Barrel too–but that is not the place to try ‘grits’–actually the best grits are instant ones from Quacker—my favorite one is the cheese flavored ones–but haven’t had any in a long time–just never had any in a dinner that I liked–they are too much like wall paper paste and not flavor!!!
(my Dad was brought up southern(in Fl)–so we did have some southern favorites growing up!!)
enjoy-di
What an interesting place to visit with lots of treasures…
Not sure about the breakfast though……
Looks like a great store. Your breakfast looks interesting. Hugs,xx
What an interesting place – I could lose myself for hours in that shop! Hmmm I guess grits are an acquired taste?
Just wondering what part of the US you are in now? Is it south since you are hearing Y”all?
I’m a little slow at catching up with your travels, but I am doing so today and wanted to share this funny routine about Cracker Barrel for when you have some time to sit and watch.
