I realized I forgot to show you the last photos I took on my visit to Alice’s! On the way to the airport the day we left, we stopped by the Norfolk Botanical Gardens because they had a special display called “Lantern Asia”.
We were going to go at night so that we could enjoy the lights inside all the lanterns… but we were too busy.. ahem… sewing…. ahem… but we managed to sneak it in on the way out at least 🙂 I think it would have been awesome to see it at night, but really, it was better for taking pictures during the day… and just as amazing…
So the exhibits are made from metal, silk, satin and “other eco-friendly” materials…
Don’t you love this little family of owls…
I think my favorite was the “Dali White Pagoda” made from a million pieces of china:
When we were walking up to it I was like, oh… interesting… but when I looked closer I realized it was made from china…
and then even closer…
How cool is that?! And how long did it take to set up I wonder!!!
Of course there was a dragon…..
And all these lovely butterflies lining one of the paths…
Inside one of the buildings there were some clothes on display…
Now I really can’t remember the story of this little garment, but I just liked the embellishments…
There was lots more to see, but we had a plane to catch… we’re glad that we got to see that little bit of an amazing exhibition that travels the world… it is in Norfolk until the 13th of May and then it might be going to a botanical garden near you! So keep an eye out if it does!!
That is so pretty! I am glad you and Alice got to see it before returning home. Really special. Nancy
The lanterns are gorgeous. It would’ve been a sight to see them at night all lit up. Hugs,xx
How amazing and filled with color and patterns that are a joy to see! Thanks for sharing the display with us!
Amazing!
What a wonderful display!
I’m with you on the china display, amazing, and do they transport it as is, or dismantle each piece of china, and how many break in transit?? Maybe I am over thinking it, but mind boggling how many plates etc to put it together.
Hi Joy wow what beautiful displays you got to see, thankyou for sharing my friend xx
I’m mind boggled that this is a *traveling* exhibit! I can’t imagine putting up and taking down and putting up again that china exhibit! I’m going to see if it’s coming anywhere within a couple hundred miles of me. Thanks for the photos!
What a lot of fun eye candy in this post! And I will be following you since I just found out you are a fellow owner of a Bernina 440! I plead guilty to not using my machine for half the things she’s capable of. But I’m willing to learn!
They’re beautiful and real works of art! The china one amazes me!!
What a fascinating display…..
