Quilt retreats are so much fun! Just being able to sit and sew and not have to worry about cooking, cleaning, and all the rest of life!
Last year we played Bingo as part of the mystery case allocation. This year we rolled 10 dice and whoever got the most sixes got to pick first:
It was great fun, and after lots of laughter we all had our cases…
I chose Lilac Mist:
And a good choice too, because I have someone in mind for this quilt…
Open it up and there is the pattern:
The fabric is all cut and ready to sew. Judy has all the steps nicely organized and labeled in paper bags:
As soon as we all got our cases allocated, there was a mad rush to the sewing room to get started!
Lots of chain sewing happening…
Friday night I worked on nine patches..
Started on snowballs on Saturday morning… had to draw 160ish lines…
Good thing I popped my sandpaper board in my bag at the last minute – it is handy when drawing the diagonal lines, the fabric doesn’t move.
The quilt consisted of two blocks – the nine patch and the snowflake. They look so lovely…
By the end of Saturday night I had all the blocks put together and two borders…
… and on Sunday morning the last one went on…
Isn’t it pretty? I know Alice will like it!
More on the mystery quilt retreat later in the week 🙂

You chose well, what a gorgeous quilt top, now you really need to get that quilt sandwich sorted so you can finish the quilt and not have to add it to your UFO pile.

How wonderful; your quilt top is gorgeous and I’m sure you had a refreshing time just sewing and gabbing! Good for you!
I love that all of the cutting was already done, it is not one of my favourite parts. I like the tip about the sandpaper board too. Your quilt top is amazing, you did so well to get it all done in time. x

So glad I decided to come, but again you finished yours in no time at all.
It is certainly lovely & will be much appreciated I’m sure & so lovely of you to gift it to someone. Hope the trip home was OK. Take care & we’ll talk soon.
And once again I learned a quilting tip from you – the sandpaper board. It looks like I could just glue some sandpaper into a file folder and have one. Am I right?
A fun way to get a quilt top madein a weekend.. and all packaged up in a lovely little case
