I think the best part about Quilt Retreats are the people… I mean, being able to sew till you drop is great.. and not cooking or doing housework is also great… but hanging out with a like minded group of ladies is the best!
So the ladies that were there last year and this year were of course Judy, Pat was there again, and Susan decided to come at the last minute as well… All the other ladies were “new to me”, including another blogging friend Dione from Clever Chameleon Quilting. I have been blog friends with her since last October, and asked if she wanted to come to the weekend… I was so pleased that she did! Even though it was the first time we met in real life, I felt like we’d known each other forever…
You can check out Dione’s post about the retreat here! Susan hasn’t posted yet, but I am sure she will soon!
Susan, Dione and I were one the same table, sewing and chatting away.. Susan brought her own project, and finished two rows:
It’s going to be a very pretty quilt when it is done!!
Dione got a mystery quilt with LOTS of half square triangles!!!
She had heaps of ironing to do and trimming… but her finished blocks were perfect!! I forgot to get a pic, you’ll have to look at her blog to see them!
I love the variety of fabric and designs Judy puts into the cases….
This was the first finished quilt top:
Here’s another finish:
I also enjoy looking at other people’s sewing machines 🙂
I brought Baby B with me…
Next to me Susan had this lovely older Bernina:
Dione had this Husqvarna:
She was the only non Bernina lady at our table, because the last machine was also a Bernina!
I liked the needle book she had hanging on the front… attached with a sticky velcro dot:
So those were our machines at our table… didn’t take pics of all the others 🙂
Lenore asked if I had a pic of the goodies we got… I assume she meant in our cute baskets… this is what was in them:
There was also a little box of juice, but I left that at Judy’s – I think we were all too busy sewing to eat much of what was in there!!
On Sunday afternoon we took a group photo before the first ladies had to leave…
It was a lovely group of ladies! Just like last year.. they were lovely too… if I keep going there every year I am sure I’ll be seeing some of these faces again! New friends soon become old friends 🙂
Next up… a mini quilt show!
What a thoughtful gift, munchies to keep you all going. Xx
What a wonderful time and variety of quilt results!
Yes, it was a lovely weekend with some of the most talented ladies, producing some great quilts. Lots of chatting, laughing, eating & of course, sewing. I will try & post today, but it’s been so busy since we got back, with car club stuff & getting sorted to mind DD & kids next week. My pics aren’t much different to yours, though I’d not realised you took one of my assorted blocks. Have a great weekend & take care.
Hi Joy so glad you all had a wonderful time love the different quilts sounds like an awesome place for a retreat xx
lots of fun Joy and I love seeing all the different projects… looks like a lot of sewing was done…

I love quilt retreats and haven’t been to a group one in years and years! I should have been there to keep Dione company with my very old Viking 500. I wouldn’t trade it for anything, and use it about 90% of the time while my Bernina gets used by my Thursday friends, unless I’m quilting. I lost the quilting foot for the Viking several years ago. =~(
Oh, what lovely sewing you all accomplished! I am green with envy with all that time you had to sew! Always fun to meet new people too. What an exciting life you lead! Nancy
