Welcome to the last day of the Christmas in July Blog Hop hosted by the lovely Carol from Just let me Quilt!
It’s been a lovely Christmas in July on so many blogs, and if you are still trying to make your way around to everyone’s post, don’t worry! Just keep visiting because there are so many fun ideas out there!
For today I wanted to do some show and tell of what I have been making with this lovely Layer Cake called Vintage Holiday, from Moda:
Little Christmas Pouches
I started off by making these cute little Christmas pouches…
Great for popping in little goodies, and as a few people suggested in the blog post, to hang on your Christmas tree! In case you missed that post, there is a link to the tutorial that I used to make the pouches and a bunch of other Christmas gift ideas, so go check it out!
Fabric Christmas Crackers
Next up I made these fun Fabric Christmas Crackers:
Again another quick and easy project, just click on the photo to go to the tutorial!
Using up the Scraps!
After making the little pouches and crackers, I had a lot of scraps left over…
Drawstring Gift Bags
…. so I decided to make Pam’s Drawstring Gift Bag with some of them:
I am just loving this collection of fabric! All the projects are matching so nicely…
Pam’s original bag has something special added to it – a divider… but for mine I decided to leave it out because I will probably use it to keep all my little projects from this month in until I use them at Christmas….
Of course I will have to take the toilet rolls out of the crackers to make them fit… 🙂
Taking the toilet rolls out would be a good idea anyway, because they are likely to get squashed in my suitcase when I head back to the Middle East in a month or so…
Quilted Christmas Wreath Cushion
I still had more scraps, so I again decided to use some to make Sue’s Quilted Christmas Wreath Cushion:
I used 2 1/2″ squares and I think it is looking really cute so far, don’t you?
Even after using the scraps to make the cushion cover, I STILL have more left over… so make sure you stay tuned for what else I am planning on making from that one layer cake!
The last two projects from Pam and Sue were tutorials in our Sew Early 4 Christmas Blog Hop. We have one more tutorial coming up next Monday written by Dione… and she sent me a sneak peak to share with all of you….
It’s a snow globe coaster.. and I am thinking should be perfect for using up some more of my layer cake scraps, don’t you think?
Well that’s it from me… 🙂 Thanks so much for dropping by, and make sure you visit the others who are on the hop today:
Thank you Carol for hosting this for us!
That’s a fabulous collection of projects! They’re all wonderful.
Wow…lots of things going on, you’ve done very nicely for this hop. Wonderful pieces!
You got so much done! I love the Christmas crackers, a great way to use up bit’s and pieces. Thank you for sharing today.
You have been super busy, Joy. Loving that Moda fabric and how you’ve pieced it together to make the little drawstring bag.
Like that old coffee commercial—good to the last drop?–you have used that lovely fabric till there wasn’t much left with all your cool projects. I love Bonnie and Camille but have not checked out the holiday lines!! Man, that is pretty stuff and made up beautifully for your hop day.
Lots of great little projects you have going on!
Your projects make me feel like I can handle Christmas gifting this year. All of them would be perfect for family or neighbor gifts. They are easy, beautiful, and ready to fill…I love them! Who wouldn’t appreciate a little treat in one of those bags. I know I would! Thanks so much for joining the hop and sharing all these amazing ideas. You really rocked Christmas In July!
So many cute projects, love each and every one. Will definitely have a go at the small pouches 😍 thanks for sharing
Those crackers look like the most fun to hide little toys and candies in for the little ones! I must save this idea for my grand littles! And what more fun is that beautiful fabric selection you chose!
All your little projects were spot-on. They left me with lots of ideas to make for the grands and I love the idea of the snack bags filled with goodies and hung on the tree. You are a ‘scrap queen’ – I love that you use your bits and pieces. Those drawstring bags do make wonderful gift wrapping, too.
Neat projects! It’s amazing how many lovelies you can make from one pack of 10″ squares! Thanks for sharing!
