Many of you have asked for an update on the driving… we just hit 104 hours today 🙂 I can see light at the end of the tunnel! DS has had a few official lessons with the local RACV instructor who says that as soon as he finishes his hours, he is ready to sit the driving test, so that is pretty exciting! He did a test “driving test” with him and he passed it fine, so hopefully the real one will go well too!
Even though I haven’t been blogging much, I have been taking pictures of all our travels… and yesterday I took some time out to sit and sort the photos… Over the next few weeks I’ll post them and you can enjoy some of the sights (mostly quilt shops!!) I’ve enjoyed over the past month!
When I was going through my photos I found some that I forgot to post from when I was at the mystery retreat in Bordertown, so I thought I’d start with them 🙂
I think it was on the Saturday that a few of us went to visit a little shop called Hubbard’s Kaleidoscope… I needed some fabric for a baby quilt, and I was quite surprised when the ladies took me to this shop that, from the outside, looked like a gift shop…
.. until I saw the signs with “Patchwork…. Fabrics….Craft Supplies….” 🙂
The front of the shop did have a large assortment of gifts… but the second room was FULL of craft and fabric!!
First up all this lovely yarn…
This is actually where I bought the yarn for the pink and purple shell blanket I am making…
Then came the quilts…
And heaps of fabric….
I was amazed at the variety they had… and would have taken more photos, but they were about to close. They kept it open for a few minutes longer just so we could buy our bits and pieces… 🙂
I bought these odds and ends:
Two quilt “kits” and the pretty fabrics on the left are 5″ strips that I just fell in love with….
I also found some cute monkey fabric for the baby quilt I wanted to make, and I made a start on it that weekend…
I really wanted to make the most of the lovely work space at Judy’s:
I did get the top finished, now I need to quilt it…
I also bought two lovely fat quarter packs from Judy:
They are both the same fabrics, just one came in a box.. I like the box, I am sure it will come in handy for something once I’ve used the fabric:
All these goodies are going in my suitcase… 🙂
I think it is a good thing I don’t live in Bordertown… too many temptations with all of Judy’s retreats, fabric and this shop!!
However, if you are ever driving through there, do make sure you drop in and check out all the goodies at Hubbard’s Kaleidoscope! It was well worth a visit!
Looks like a great place to shop!!! I like the fabric you have chosen! We will see it in a quilt soon, I’m sure!
you found some fun fabrics there… always great to find new shops to explore. Fabric just looks so much nicer in a pretty box doesn’t it. I love the cheeky monkeys you found…

Great fabrics! It must have been so much fun searching through all those choices. Love the monkey fabric – our littlest ‘grand’ was born in the year of the monkey.
Love going to quilt shops and this one looks wonderful! I love any kind of boxes even if i don’t know what I will do with them. Those monkeys in the baby quilt are so cute. I am working on a baby quilt for our new great grandbaby coming in December. The Mommy likes pastels and the room will be light pink so the quilt is a pretty light pink, light print pink and white. The back will be the light pink also and the binding will be the light print pink. Hope I don’t goof! Nancy
Well worth a visit by the looks of it – great name for the shop, too. Loving the monkey quilt colours.
There are some seriously yummy fabrics in the picture. I like your choices. The monkey quilt is going to be so cute. Glad you can see the light at the end of the tunnel with the driving. Sanity is on the horizon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!??????????
On catchup and good to see what you’ve been up to. That shop is lovely, but I’m glad I didn’t go down that day & buy anything, though I’ve done a little buying on our recent trip & have a gorgeous fat quarter to share with you. We need to speak soon. Take care.
So you are missing Judy’s Pink retreat? =) What beautiful fabrics all of those are, and a Frivols box! Those are fun. I only ever bought one on a closeout sale, because my budget doesn’t really often stretch to their cost, but it is so wonderful to have everything right in the box and be able to make it up without searching and searching for matching things!
Hubbards should be pleased with your praise of her shop, and looking forward to seeing what you produce with that fabric that you bought from me.
