Welcome to Day 18 of 31 Days of Getting Organized!
We were supposed to be on a plane right about now… but we are still here in Holland… DD has improved since last night, so the antibiotics are starting to work. She is still in a lot of pain – it’s still a good thing we aren’t flying! Thank you for all your good wishes.. I appreciated each and every one…
I had a bit of an outline made up after I started this series.. but it’s a little out of whack now 🙂 The best laid plans.. etc… 🙂 I was hoping to start working on setting up my Sewing and Quilting Binder this month, and sharing my progress… now I can’t do that yet until I get back, because the binders are at home and I am not!
I am still in two minds about what type of system I will use. In the past I’ve used three ring binders, and they have worked well – but they are so big and especially with all the moving I have been doing, not practical.
So then I thought I might try Bullet Journaling – because I like the look and the creativity involved… but then it takes time to make them look pretty….
I really do love paper… and I love cute notebooks, like this one:
Wouldn’t that be perfect for tracking UFOs?!
My first choice would be to use paper… a binder, or notebook… but ever since I started travelling so much two years ago, I knew I needed to find a different system – one that was easy to take with me in my hand bag.
So I made an attempt to go paperless!!!!
In my next posts I will share what I have been doing these past 8 months – using a hybrid approach on my Ipad.
I’ll be taking some screen shots of what I have set up, which programs I use, and an overview of how I use it…
But before we look into that I’d love to hear from you….
Do you use binders and printables to stay organized? Do you use the Bullet Journal system? Or something else? Computer? Ipad? Scraps of paper?
I’ve scheduled my simplified bullet journal post for Friday a.m. U.S. time. Maybe that will give you some idea. But I haven’t gotten to organizing sewing projects and lists yet. Maybe one of the days when I have some time to play with my journal rather than just make to-do lists. Will have to put that idea on the to-do list. 😉
I love paper! I have an older graph paper spiral notebook that I’ve kept for years. I keep my ongoing list of UFO’s, projects that I WANT to make, etc. And I can sketch out block designs, etc. I also have a small spiral notebook that keeps my To-Do list, It only gets renewed about once a week, as I check off important items, and then move some to the next page. Quilt projects, cards to make, items to purchase, they all have a place on the page. And I keep lists of some other things in the back. Works well for me!
Nothing worse than earaches so I’m pleased your DD s ear is feeling better. Hope you can travel soon.
I use files for patterns and store UFOs in boxes. Since having an iPad I use a lot of PDFs. Maybe I should have a better system ….
I use scraps of paper or bulletin board notes!
I find talking/preparing about being organized takes time from BEING organized! I don’t mean that harshly but just realistically!
Glad to hear your DD’s ear is improving – although I’m sure both of you wish it was faster. The best thing I’ve found for organizing my life is a page-a-day calendar that has pages about 5×8″ (made by Brownline). There’s ample room on each page to note appointments, birthdays/anniversaries, and I often jot notes to myself on the current page. If I’m looking for something it’s the first place I look. After that I go to my daily diary.
I love seeing pretty organized binders but guess that is not me. I would start out good and not keep it up. That is what I do with my garden records! Now with the CFS I don’t have the time or energy to make one but I still like to write things on a piece of paper so that I can cross them off! LOL I do like paper better than using the Iphone or Internet but I can see with all your traveling that might work best for you. Nancy .
Oh, I’m so bad! I do put up the Monday goals each week. Then I write in my 6 x 8 teacher calendar on each day of the week what I plan to work on, but it is in pencil for a reason! There might be lines and arrows going all over, and their might be clouds around things I really want to get to. =) I downloaded your planner, the one that works the most like my brain, but I use specific pages and not everything, and I still need to actually organize that!
I’m still very much paper based but reading this – and your future posts (I”m behind here!) I see there is a much tidier way!! You’re prompting me to re-think how I do things….. not quite sure how I will change things but I thik I can be a little more organised – and maybe spend less time looking for that bit of paper….!
