Welcome to Day 19 of 31 Days of Getting Organized!
Please note that I am not affiliated with Apple or any of their products. I am just sharing how I use their stuff 🙂
Last year in Arabia, I bought an Ipad Pro… well, actually, we used loyalty points to “buy” it 🙂 Kind of “free” but more useful than the orange bucket…!
Before that I had a Samsung tablet, which I loved, but used mostly for reading ebooks, playing games, emails, calendar and organizing pdf patterns. Then some quilting friends of mine showed me what they were doing with their Ipads and Apple pencils… and I was pretty impressed.
But I still had my perfectly good tablet, so I kind of put it out of my mind and kept using paper to organize my life.
Then disaster struck! I dropped my Samsung tablet… and the screen broke… Turned out it would cost just as much to buy a new one as it would to get it fixed. So off to the store we went to look into a replacement… and used our points to get the ipad. Ever since then I have been meaning to do some posts about it, but didn’t quite get there. So this series has finally prompted me to 🙂
At the time when I got my Ipad, I had to buy the Pro to be able to use the Apple pencil. The pencil is the key to why I bought the ipad and not another tablet. (More on that in the next post) Now I am pretty sure all the latest models can use the pencil (but don’t quote me on that!).
In yesterday’s comments, Delighted Hands said: ” I find talking/preparing about being organized takes time from BEING organized!” and I completely agree with her!
I mean, I could become totally obsessed with layouts in a Bullet journal, for example, that take forever, but look awesome… that’s just the type of person I am….which is why I was looking for a system that allowed me to make up my own templates (or those from others), and then use them again and again. I also wanted to be able to make them somewhat pretty if I wanted to….
I have done this relatively successfully with my Ipad and a program called Goodnotes.
The next posts I write may not interest you too much if you don’t have an ipad… so feel free to skip them! But if you have ever considered getting one, this may help you in your decision making process 🙂
Ok, so what you need to start with is, of course an Ipad that can connect to an Apple pencil….
In the pic above, you can see the programs I use regularly, and here is a list of what I use my ipad for the most:
- Taking blog photos
- Blogging
- Writing/Taking notes with Goodnotes
- Organizing with Goodnotes
- Journaling with Goodnotes
- Organizing recipes & recipe books with Goodnotes
- Reading and editing ebooks with Goodnotes
- Reading ebooks with Kobo, Kindle and Ibooks
- Drawing & designing patterns with Procreate
- Using planning apps like Trello
- Email with Gmail and Outlook
- Watching Netflix
- Playing games 🙂
As you can see from the list, I use Goodnotes for a lot of things! Tomorrow I’ll tell you more about how I use it…
Just wondering….do you have an Ipad? And if so, do you use Goodnotes?
I do have an iPad, but never heard of goodnotes, will have to follow along and learn from you. I love the iPad because the battery seems to last forever!
I don’t have an iPad, but when I replace my MacBook Pro, I might go that way. I have to decide what I can give up and what I need to keep. The pencil is a big plus with this!
I use my techno stuff for quite a lot of things now…. but not as much as you…. will be interested to read further. I don’t have an ipad now….
Hugz
Ha! Nice to see you have it all in one place which is a big time-saver!
And for a traveler, having all of your patterns and plans at hand would be a plus!
I don’t have this type of tablet, so I can’t make an intelligent comment about it (not that most of my comments are all THAT intelligent…ahem).
See? I TOLD you I don’t make intelligent comments and I just hit ‘send’ on my last one and realized (too late) that I’d even spelled my own name wrong!!! My name is Mary Anne….Mary Anne…..Mary Anne…….
