Welcome to Day 22 of 31 Days of Getting Organized!
One of the things I like to use Goodnotes for is organizing patterns. Now I don’t keep all my patterns in Goodnotes, otherwise it would be a big jumbled mess. Like my computer.
I just keep the patterns I am using currently, or ones that I use regularly.
NB: I am only going to share screenshots of patterns that are free, not ones I bought, because of copyright.
One of my all time favorite patterns (it’s actually a tutorial) is the Pink Penguin Fabric Basket… I use it to sell at markets (with permission), for last minute gifts.. and of course for my own use. Because I use it so often, I keep a copy of it on my Ipad in Goodnotes.
I used to print it out.. and then I’d lose it, so I’d print another copy out…. well, this way I always know where it is.. and also, and this is the really cool part….. I can write notes on it like I would a printed copy!
If I am working on blocks of the month, like the Squared Away blocks, I have them imported to Goodnotes:
And there you can see how behind I am on these blocks!!! While I’ve been here in Holland I downloaded the ones that I haven’t done yet… I need to get stuck into them when I get back!!
I also delete the patterns or block instructions I have finished with.. so that it doesn’t get too cluttered.
You can make as many categories and subcategories as you like with Goodnotes. One of mine is, of course, “Quilting”, but under that I have a few subheadings…
As I get more organized, I will have more categories.. for now those are the three main ones I have been using. It is a work in progress!!
I think that gives a pretty good overview of how I use Goodnotes for my patterns… I guess the main thing I like is that I can have the ones I am using all in one place AND be able to write on them if I want to…
Tomorrow I’ll show you the next category I am working on to go under “Quilting”…
Oh, and in other news… DD is much better and we are heading “home” tonight 🙂
Glad to hear your DD is better and that you’re heading home. Curious to know something – are you able to move something within the Quilting categories you’ve shown in your example? For instance – can you move a pattern from the ‘Want to Make’ category into the ‘Current’ category?
Hi Joy, Have a safe trip home. You are so organized. I have my patterns in a notebook or saved to y computer but not organized in any order! Happy sewing when you get home! Nancy
Pleased to hear DD is better. Safe travels. Xx
I like the idea of keeping the pattern pics close to hand! It is easy to have an idea go in one ear and out the other….
I always drag my laptop into the sewing room, and sometimes print out parts I have to, but this would be a lot easier!
