Welcome to Day 27 of 31 Days of Getting Organized!
After a nice relax yesterday, today I did some more sorting, unpacking and tackled my yarn…. I don’t have a lot with me here, but I do have a bit. Most of it was in a big Ikea bag:
And some under the coffee table in two folding yarn baskets:
I found those baskets down at the wholesalers and really like them… They are a perfect fit for hiding under the coffee table š
Like I did with the fabric the other day, I dumped it all on the coffee table and starting sorting. In with all the yarn, I found this yarn holding bag:
Exactly what I should have put my socks in during my travels!! Oh well, now I know where it is š
I also found this project that I started earlier in the year:
Not exactly sure what I had in mind.. but possibly squares to put together to make a blanket š
In any case, I started by putting all the yarn that went with that in a folding basket, along with the other cotton yarn I had:
Then I tackled the other basket, and put two “yarn projects” in it – the purple yarn is for making fluffy slippers, the other is for… probably a blanket, haven’t decided yet:
Since I haven’t started working on either of those projects yet, I decided to put these two big balls of “yarn” on top, along with the crochet hooks that go with them:
How organized is that?! Now I shouldn’t have to go looking for those hooks when I want to get started š
After filling up those two baskets, I was left with a zippy bag of mesh yarn:
And some odds and ends:
I popped the odds and ends in some zippy bags as well, and then they all went into a cupboard.
Mission accomplished š
Outside it is all sparkly… seems like there are still people up and about, but for me it is bedtime…..
How do you organize your yarn?
Hi! I like those yarn containers that fit under the coffee table. And what a pretty table runner! I suspect you made that! I don’t accomplish a lot with my yarn but it is on the top shelf in my sewing area. Just waiting for me! CFS bad today. Hoping for better days! Nancy
Perhaps the sock yarn has booked a ticket to Bonegilla for a quick catchup šš.
I use a number of methods for storage as my yarn stash is nearly as big as my fabric. I used large ziplock backs to store same ply yarn and type and write these details on the bag. These are all stored in a large tub. I also use two large flat plastic containers with dividers (Reject Shop) separating the yarn in the same way. Xx
love those yarn bags…. I don’t really have yarn to organiseā¦. a kit which is bundled as a kit.. and loose cotton yarn for my washers… Your ‘bit’ looks quite a stash to me.. haha

Now that we are heading ito summer, I’m planning on sorting through my yarn one of these days too!
Nice way to organize the yarn-close at hand but not messy!
I do wonder why I tuck a project away after the first flush of starting it, too!
Amazing view out your window. I always love the look of a city at night, particularly when looking from high up. My yarn storage (such as it is) involves two plastic grocery totes, stacked rather precariously together.
