Giving Thanks….

If I had to pick a holiday from any other culture in the world to celebrate, it would have to be Thanksgiving… Ever since I was little, going to an American school and learning about the first Thanksgiving, I loved the idea of having a day every year to take time to give thanks…
Of course it is not part of my Dutch/Australian culture or heritage, but that doesn’t mean I can’t still take the time to give thanks…
I realize the official Thanksgiving is “over” in the US now, but I still thought I’d share the things I am thankful for 🙂
Things I am thankful for…..
(In no particular order)
- Arriving safely back “home” in Australia… when we landed in Melbourne last week the weather was fine and 11C 🙂 Just perfect for me! Since then we’ve had some rain, but today turned into a lovely, sunny, spring day:
- A comfy bed to sleep in at Mum and Dad’s…. until we find a house to rent (which is proving to be not as simple as I thought!):
(Oh, remind me to tell you the story of that quilt on the wall one day…..)
- Lovely lavender growing outside…
(I’ll need to pick some and make more Lavender Turnovers for Christmas presents!)
- Seeing Emmie G again 🙂 🙂
- Being able to set up a little sewing corner….
- And last but not least… seeing family and friends again… although I still need to catch up with a lot of people!! But I am waiting till I am over my jetlag a bit more 🙂
If you did celebrate Thanksgiving, I hope you had a good one!
Tell me, what are you thankful for?
One of the things in most grateful for are all the wonderful friends I’ve made through bliogging. You if course are one of them. Glad you arrived safely. This was a wonderful post.
Loved this post!
I’m not American either, so I definitely understand the appeal of wanting to celebrate Thanksgiving too (I even wrote a whole post about it on my own blog!).
I feel as though I learnt so much about you from this post and I cannot wait to read more on your blog.
Hey, I like the look of that sewing cabinet!!!!!
I’m grateful for good friendships, fresh country air and peace.

Hi Joy, I am glad that you arrived safely! Lucky you to be able to use Emma G again! Is this the country you will be able to settle down for good? I am thankful for so many things. Jesus providing a way to heaven is one along with all the family does to help us. Thankful I am not bedridden with this CFS. I hope you will be able relax now and get caught up on your rest! Have a good week-end! Nancy
Glad you arrived safely and I hope your search for a new place to call your own is short. In the meantime it’s nice to know you have a place to stay!
