I’ve been making very slow progress with my sewing room.. unpacking and sorting bit by bit, mostly late at night when it is a bit cooler. Why on earth I am in Australia in the middle of summer is beyond me… I should be back in the Middle East enjoying a mild winter!! But oh well…. by the time I head back there in March it will be warming up – just my luck!
I’ve been a bit distracted as well.. first of all I’ve unpacked some of my quilts and starting scattering them around the house… starting with my cat quilt that a sweet friend of mine made:
The colors don’t really match with the other stuff in the living room, so I will probably move it somewhere else.. I am really wanting to go with a more pastel theme, and was delighted to unearth one of my favorite quilts, my first tessellating pinwheel quilt:
Of course it lacks pictures of cats on it… but that was soon remedied by the arrival of our new family member.. who has taken a liking to that particular quilt….
Meet Sapphy, our new Ragdoll kitten! She is DD’s new fur baby, long dreamed about and saved up for 🙂
Even though she is still a kitten, she is showing her laid back Ragdoll traits…
Look how chill she is!
Of course she would be comfy on those pinwheels….
I will get some photos of my sewing room progress soon… I have decided to move Nina into the kitchen/living area where the a/c is so that I can do some sewing… hopefully tomorrow 🙂
How are you all doing? Are you staying cool?????!!
I want to visit your DDs fur baby! What a lovely upside to being back in Oz…. even if we are all roasting….. Hope the move to the AC helps. xx
We are too cool here! Frosty mornings and a fire in the fireplace too often so far! It’s nice to see your quilts which makes it a home! And a kitten is just perfect for a home–she is so beautiful; you will all love having her for a room mate!!!!
We’re freezing here, in northern Alberta, Canada. The kitten is gorgeous.
Beautiful quilt, and such an adorable kitten 😺 🐾 😍
She’s just beautiful!! Enjoy every minute! Very fitting that she has such a lovely quilt to rest her head upon!
Such a beautiful kitty… thanks for sharing!
Hi Joy, lovely to see some quilts coming out and pets coming in. I don’t think we are as hot as you but it’s certainly been warm and for too many days…. feels like it will never end. Indoors sewing is the way to go …
Hugz
Oh such a sweet kitty–tell DD I am in love!!!
It has been bitter bitter cold here in NY state–this morning it was -9 degrees–
yesterday only a -3, but the wind chill put it at really -23 degrees–now that is very very cold–my apartment faces north–the direction the wind comes from–had to tape my curtains to the window sill to help keep the cold draft out–
ouch—
I have finally gotten well enough to be doing some sewing–yea!!!!
luv, di
Awww, Sapphy is so sweet and looking right at home.
Close to the a/c is the best plan … I have a tiny a/c for 1 beside my chair.
Love your quilts. Awww Sapphy is just so adorable. Roasting here in Qld so not much sewing getting done. Mostly reading which is good in a way as i’m finally clearing the 2 big stacks of books on my bedside table that have been there a couple of years. :). Hugs,xx
Awwwwwww – I want one of those sweet little kitties!! Hmmm….keep DH vs. get kitten….guess I’d better keep the Resident Chef, much as I’d love a soft little kitty to cuddle with. Definitely managing to keep cool here in the -24C temps over the past few days!!!
Sapphy looks so sweet, hope she isn’t too hot, although I’m sure she will have no problem finding the coolest place in the house. Very hot here in Adelaide, I think we get a respite this weekend. The cool airflow from the aircon vent doesn’t really reach my workroom so it gets a bit hot in the afternoon, I’m thinking about buying a small fan which I will have on the floor directed at my legs. Stay cool.
Sapphy is so gorgeous, I could easily spend all day playing with her and cuddling up when she snoozes. The sewing can wait!!!!
AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!
She is too stinkin’ cute!!! I love the cat quilt too. Bunny is sleeping under the quilt right now. You should be here; it is 32 degrees. That would be zero for you.
Hi Joy, Nice to see a post from you in my mailbox! Maybe we could trade some of our very cold weather for some of your very warm weather! Your pinwheel quilt is so pretty and your daughter’s cat so adorable. I didn’t practice my piano today but used that time to work on my quilt. I backstitch on my little squares or triangles when I sew them together. If I didn’t backstitch I could get much more sewed but I have had times when I was sewing the quilt together that they were coming apart and I had to fix that. Do you have trouble that way? How do you keep them from coming apart? I don’t think anyone else but me backstitches theirs! LOL No wonder I can’t get more done! Stay cool! Nancy
Aww, she is cute & I’ll get to cuddle her hopefully soon too. Yikes, we are in for scorchers over the next few days & they’ve predicted blackouts as well. You’ve moved Emmie G? I’m unpicking 2 rows of “awful” stitching & just hope that my machine isn’t playing up, so I’ll try another pattern & hope it’s all OK. Talk soon. Take car, stay cool & huggles.
What a gorgeous kitty! And the quilts are beautiful, too.
If I could package up some of my -18 coldness and send it to you from Michigan, USA, I would, believe me.
You were missed, hope you get yourself all organised soon, and we might see you?
how adorable is that fur baby!!
Yes, you do seem to be following the wrong season. All I can say is thank heavens for air con throughout the house. I am sure I would have died otherwise – we haven’t had the extreme temperatures in Brisbane – but the humidity more than makes up for that. Give me winter anyday!
Nice to see yourself getting settled into your new home. And how nice to have your quilts around you. Your new family member is just gorgeous! I hope she’s coping with the heat.
