Well, it has only taken me just under three months to get my sewing room ready to use and to show you a tour!!! I seem to get slower and slower at getting organized these days!
Last weekend Dad came over to help me move things around… you know how things are always easier with someone else to help?
It was still quite messy as you can see above…. but I was getting there slowly, like in this little corner:
I bought that little craft shelf in the corner above, last year from Aldi … got one for DD as well, but since she is not using it, I pinched it for the other corner of the room 🙂
Emmie G still had heaps of stuff on her.. and was not ready to go…
After the weekend, the weather stayed nice and cool, so I spent a little bit everyday in my sewing room last week- sorting, cleaning, organizing and getting it ready to sew…
It’s hard to get a pic of the whole room, so I’ll show it to you in bits… here is from the door going in:
Cutting area on the left, storage, rulers and threads in the middle there, and then my little sewing corner.
Yes, I still need to put the binding on the purple quilt.. getting close though!
On the right coming in is Emmie G:
Oooh, can you see the clean, almost clear surface?! I am not sure how long it will stay that way, but here’s hoping! I still need to find a spot for that iron that I bought second hand a few months ago…
Looking from the other side of the room:
You can see my cutting table and also where I’ll be tracing embroideries.. oh the table was from Aldi last year too 🙂
I haven’t introduced you to Freddie yet, have I?
Freddie is short for Frederica, and I bought her second hand a few months ago as well…..
She is a vintage Chil-Daw dressmaker’s dummy…. and yes behind her is my design wall looking rather empty….
I’ve always wanted a dressmaker’s dummy, and since DD wants to do some more dress making, I thought I’d get it while I had the opportunity.
Looking back to Emmie G on the left:
I haven’t quite sorted out the stuff under Emmie G, but will get there. At least she is clear and I am hoping to pop a quilt on her soon!!
There is still some work in progress next to Emmie G:
I’ve got that white thingo to hang tools and stuff on, and Dad is building me a shelving unit to go next to it to put odds and ends on it…. I’ll be sure to take pics of that for you as soon as it is done!!
So there you go, a little tour of my sewing room… and tomorrow I am going to put that binding on!! Really, I am!!!
Ha! I must have ESP or something! I checked your blog less than half an hour ago to see if you’d posted and I’d missed the email! Your sewing room looks great. Can you please come over and do mine now?! xx
You’ve got it set up so nicely now! Time to get to work!
Gosh, what a task but you are now looking very close to doing some serious sewing 🙂
Looking good! I’m sure Saphie will approve and find a favorite spot for her nest.
Looking forward to you getting that binding on and a quilt on Emmie G.
Wow, sure looks different to when I saw it a month ago. I need help to get organised & it’s been nearly 4 years here. Oh well, one day I’ll either have a studio again or at least one big room to do it all in. See you soon, take care & huggles.
yay, it’s all coming together… great you have a good room there that fits Emmie in too. I assume the binding is on now….
Hugz
Looking good Joy. Love the size of your room & that Emmie G fits in too. Hugs,xx
I think you need to take your time doing these things – as once its done it’s an even bigger job to re do it. Looks grand to me!
Hi Joy, You sure do have a nice big sewing room now! I know it must make you happy to finally be getting it organized. Can’t wait to see what you will be making. I have gone downhill a little with the CFS and arthritis. Guess I tried to do too much or something. Also big problem with left arm. My sweet hubby bought me an Accuquilt Go for my birthday. It has a handle to turn but should be a big help not having to use the rotary cutter all the time. I am going to meet another quilter who lives in our subdivision tomorrow. Taking a baby quilt to tie that I made out of a messed up pattern. They have also started a knitting/crochet club here. So much I want to do! Enjoy your new organized room! Nancy
Your new space looks great! You must be so happy to have so much space and have it all organized.
OK, you need to come visit for about a month. You could help me get organized the first week and then we could sew the rest of the time?????
Sounds like an awesome plan to me!!
Can you tell me the name of the manufacturer of that corner storage unit? I looked on Aldi’s web site but didn’t see anything like it. If I had the manufacturer’s name I could possibly find it on the Internet. Thanks!
Your sewing room looks Awesome!!! Enjoy using it now!
Your sewing room is looking great, I reckon it is better doing the tidying up slowly, it gives you a chance to think and evaluate things as you go (plus there is a better chance of remembering where you put everything) A long arm sometimes makes great secondary storage, handy for storing extra cutting mats or rulers.
It must feel so good to have it done. Enjoy your lovely space.
Your sewing room looks great! We’ve been in this rental since the end of last April and my sewing room still isn’t organized the way I want it!
